Here’s Why You Need A Date Night At Ají

Sassy Mama Checks Out Ají, A Japanese-Peruvian Nikkei Restaurant That’s Got Everyone Talking 

The occasion:

A Thursday night – we try to have a date night at least once a week – it’s more like every other week – but we persevere…(and with restaurants as good as this one, date night is definitely something to look forward to.)

The Venue:

I’d heard so many great things about Ají (pronounced ‘ah-hee’) located on the Palm, at Club Vista Mare and the popular ladies’ night on a Monday (which includes 5 drinks vouchers and 50% off food, woohoo!). My husband and I love Japanese food and we were intrigued by the fusion with Peruvian food (don’t fear, not a guinea-pig or alpaca in-sight!)

Ají offers great beach-front dining outside and inside the restaurant has floor-to-ceiling windows; a vibrant green feature wall and Peruvian tiles with Inca-style printed seating.

The vibe:

Authentic, yet stylish – perfect for almost any occasion and definitely a place we’ll be returning with friends and visiting family! Along with the live Peruvian band, the bustle of staff delivering plate-after-plate of sizzling-hot dishes and delights keeps all your senses buzzing.

The Food:

Ají is a Nikkei (Peruvian-Japanese) restaurant and everything you order is designed to be shared, we found the portion sizes enough for 2-3 people. Standout dishes for us during our tasting menu were the Ají Edammame (a must to start with whilst you guzzle your first drink – moreish is an understatement), the Ajru duck salad, the sirloin gyoza and the black cod! We didn’t make it as far as dessert… a busy week of Mama duties got the better of me!

Room for improvement:

We had a lovely evening, great food, great service and loads more items on the menu to try – see you again soon! Nothing to improve on here!

What we loved:

Great location – not too far onto the palm with valet parking for AED 25. Perfect for a date-night, ladies’ night or just a good laugh with friends and family in a really gorgeous setting. And the food is really REALLY good plus affordable too.
