The perfect antithesis to malls and high-rise buildings, the charming historic creek-side area of Al Bastakiya is one of the oldest residential areas in the city of Dubai. Tired kiddies (and mamas!) can refuel at one of the cafes housed in many of Bastakiya’s beautiful courtyards – we highly recommend the XVA Cafe at the uber cool XVA hotel and gallery which serves delicious salads, soups and sandwiches under the shade of ancient gaff trees. An array of ice-creams are perfect for keeping the kids happy and cool before their adventures resume.
