As the longest established school in the country (DESS was established in 1963 by Sheikh Rashid and was the first British school in the UAE), this popular choice has an excellent reputation as being one of Dubai’s best. Consistently ranked as Good by the KHDA, this school is another with long waiting lists.
A very friendly place, DESS aims to shape well-rounded pupils and values the importance of extra-curricular activities as highly as traditional academic subjects. As an older school some of the facilities may not seem as up to date as some of the more recently opened institutions but parents of pupils here are overall incredibly impressed and happy with the level of care and teaching. The school’s not for profit status is also a source of good and fee payers are confident that their money is put back into the school.
DESS has a sister branch – the Dubai English Speaking College which picks up where DESS leaves off and offers education up to Grade 12. Fees for the school are currently 34,360 AED per annum across all grades.
