JESS Jumeirah is a very well established and highly sought after primary school – and is recognised as being ‘outstanding’ by the KHDA. Places (as with its newer Arabian Ranches sister school) are notoriously difficult to get unless you are enrolling the sibling of an existing pupil or are lucky enough to be able to buy a debenture (AED 20,000- but you still need to be prepared to have your child on a list for a couple of years), or take advantage of a corporate debenture which trumps every other means. If not, and you are seriously interested in this school for your little one then get their name down on the list the minute they are born – if not before!! The school has been in operation for over 30 years and during that time has built an excellent reputation both academically and for its non-academic activities. Students at the school follow the British Early Years Foundation Stage framework, probably the most widespread nursery and pre-school curriculum in the UAE which encourages children to learn through play and self-led, but guided, discovery. Students from primary school onward follow the National Curriculum of England which aims to develop and apply a broad range of skills and knowledge in each student by means of creative and critical thinking as well as problem solving. Parents love the old village atmosphere of the school, the well-established planting and interesting maze of pathways and landscaped areas as well as fantastic sports facilities and a real sense of community.
Fees range from between 30, 581 AED to 38,253 AED per year, depending on age, so are at the higher end of the scale but you get what you pay for here. Children at JESS Jumeirah can transfer to JESS Arabian Ranches for secondary school.
