outletmallDCGLet’s face it mamas, there really is nothing like a little bit of shopping to get us in the mood for just about anything. And if I say designer wear for half the price or less…? If I close my eyes and focus I think I can hear you squeal.

You’ve probably all heard of Dubai Outlet Mall and thought, why bother I’m probably not going to find anything anyways, right? Well, that’s where you are so very wrong mamas. Although this mall isn’t exactly the newest kid on the block, there still is quite a bit to get excited about. And here are my top picks for bagging a few bargains…

swimsuitBeyond the beach
Forget about the usual slightly upmarket, boutique-feel that Beyond the Beach has elsewhere. The store in the outlet mall sports more of a storage room look, with endless racks of swim and resort wear waiting to be found. You will find Sea Folly (love!), Tommy Bahama, O N’Neill and Ripcurl to mention a few.

Arranged according to size? Nope. Upper and lower part of bikinis paired? Also a no. But snoop around and beach bargains are definitely waiting to be found. This mama picked up a gorgeous swimsuit from Seafolly at less than half the price. It was from last season, but who cares?

The Deal
Not the most inspiring store name in the history of mankind, but what’s inside won’t disappoint mamas. With a bit of a crazy mix of brands and products, the major focus is definitely on clothes. But you can pick up Molton Brown products and L’Occitane goodies for next to nothing too, which makes for excellent dinner party gifts when visiting others. I personally liked the large selection of Marc Jacobs dresses and tops on the day that I went but hubby was definitely more excited about the Paul Smith shirts and Vilebrequin swim shorts on offer.

Again, what’s with the store name? Are they worried somebody might go to the outlet mall unaware of the prospect of a deal? All things are forgiven however when you walk through the doors to this shoe emporium. The place is jam packed from floor to ceiling with heals, flats, sneakers and everything in between from both well known (Tory Burch, Michael Kors, Ralph Lauren)  to some less know but funky designer shoes. Great place for a new pair of kicks mamas!

Etoile
This little gem of a store has something for both mama and mini me. The selection on hand is understated but elegant with pieces from Tara Jarmon, Ralph Lauren and Armani. There is a good selection of Ralph Lauren for kids if you are looking to pick up some preppy frocks or shirts. They often have a surprisingly good selection of Tods at crazy prices, we’re talking AED 750 for a pair of classic, red suede ones. Oh yes, mama couldn’t resist.

Mango
Mango’s slick design and yet super affordable clothes already makes them a very popular high street choice with mama. So imagine the same clothes at even lower (ridiculously low ?) prices. What’s not to love? The store collection changes very frequently but almost always has something mega-value-for-money for mama to bag.

dvf1Priceless
Hands down, mamas favourite store in the Outlet Mall! We’re talking deep discounts on designer wear here mamas. I have personally picked up Armani tops, Stella Mccartney shoes, and Alexander McQueen accessories. Typically items will be 50-80% off (no joke) and a good selection to choose from. Last time I tiptoed back to the car with a strawberry red DVF.

massimo dutti ballerinasMassimo Dutti
This Spanish store (I know, thought it was Italian too!) started out with men’s wear only but since then have become a staple for mamas looking for stylish and affordable everyday wear. The classic, European chic look combined with smile-worthy price tags is a definite winner. And by the way, I picked up a pair of golden ballerinas on my last trip…

Asics Outlet
A great place for running mamas to pick up the best running shoes on the market at great prices. They might be last seasons model and have a different colour and cushion placement than this years but seriously…? Asics running shoes are simply the best.

Sun and Sands sports
A large selection of all kinds of sports gear including gym wear, running clothes, tennis kits including rackets and balls as well as machines for home use (yeah..right).

Hubby is quite into the Nike tennis stuff and always finds something here. They also have Reebok, Adidas and the other usual sports suspects.

Sacoor Brothers
This Portuguese clothing store chain for men took the GCC by storm a couple of years ago and has  become mega -popular with local and expat papas alike ever since. With their distinguished looking and classic cuts, Sacoor Brothers is the definition of “Smart Casual”, so send hubby here when he needs a bit of an image overhaul.

Psst… Coldstone Creamery
Not that this place has anything to do with updating your wardrobe.. in fact you probably ought to run in the opposite direction if you’re trying to stay slim. But you’ve just got to love their sin-laden, ultra-yummy, “embarrassed-to-be-seen-eating-one” creations.

The Entertainer has a two-for-one coupon…

Happy Bargain Hunting Mamas and don’t forget- shopping at outlet malls is (almost!) the same thing as saving money.
