Editor’s Letter: April

We are a quarter of the way through 2015 – and no that’s not an April Fools joke – (Christmas is only 9 months away). Well you know what they say, time flies when you’re having fun and there’s certainly been plenty of that at Sassy Mama HQ. Last month we were part of a crowd invited to sample a few new brunches around the City – Sassy Mama Dani checked out Pik-Nik at the Westin with her family, one of the most kiddie friendly options we’ve found over here – while I was joined by my mama at Frioul where brunch is most definitely a grown-up and fabulously French affair. Sassy Mama Sofia got on her bike and gave Flywheel a go while I did the opposite and stuffed my face with the most delicious Hummingbird & Jam bundt cake, recipe courtesy of our new contributor Gina whose baking is out of this world and who has the best sense of humour – read more about her version of breakfast in bed with kids. We also checked out the uber cool Piknic Electronik at Sports City, the next one is on April 18th and we hugely recommend you try it mamas – music, lots of grassy space, arts & crafts and a chilled family vibe.

But it wasn’t just the mamas having all the fun. My hubby Charlie took the boys (I tried to persuade him to include nearly 2 year old Violet but he wasn’t keen – not sure why) on another Father & Kids camping adventure, catching scorpions, singing songs around the campfire and bringing half of the desert home with them – which got us thinking that we should put together a few ideas on ways in which the dads can spend time with their little people – so we did. And here’s the list.

This month we will be peeking into the gorgeous home of mega talented artist and Lifestyle Editor of The Grace Tales Georgia Macmillan on whose recommendation I tried the fab SLaM salon for my latest set of highlights as reviewed on the site today, getting pregnancy style tips from Harpers Bazaar Arabia Editor Louise Nichol and featuring our very own, very lovely and very talented photographer Steph as April’s ‘That Mama’. Plus lots lots more.
