La Mer, Dubai’s Newest Beach Area, Is Now Open Mamas!

One of the best things about Dubai? The beach! And now there’s another way to enjoy it – yay! La Mer is the latest beachfront development to open, transforming the Jumeirah Beach area (from Jumeirah Mosque to Dubai zoo) into a beautifully designed leisure destination including restaurants, cafes, activities, shops and more. Want to know why you should be excited? Here are my top reasons.

The first phase of this awesome project, La Mer South opened yesterday (15, October) and features loads of restaurants (some licensed…yes, it’s really true) and cafes so you can go brab a bite or a drink or a coffee down by the beach. Hooray!

Over the next few weeks, other parts of the site will open up to include The Sea Spice Beach Club complete with day beds and cabanas and all that is perfect for enjoying a day on the beach. Currently, there are hammocks in the sea. Yes, in the sea!

There are playgrounds and areas for kids to play in right by the beach – all designed in keeping with the surroundings (made of wood and other natural materials) and including little wooden boats on the sand (perfect for playing at being pirates) and splash areas with rocks and fountains (maybe these weren’t supposed to be splash areas but the kids definitely enjoyed them!).

The whole place just screams for photos – from the cool ‘bucket showers’ to the beach hut changing areas and toilets – it’s seriously pretty  (an instagram mamas dream?!).

The facilities are super convenient for parents – with showers, baby-changing, free wi-fi (for those ‘quick find something on YouTube or we’re facing a meltdown’ moments), mobile charging and more plus plenty of parking (valet too if you like to make a quick exit). And walkways are wide enough for buggies and scooters/skate boards.

You’ll soon be able to bounce on a special air-filled trampoline called ‘Hawa Hawa’ – all the way from Japan.

Phase 2 of the project will open early 2018 with a surf park and lots more (we spied a water slide looking thing being built too!). Exciting times to come, mamas!
