Grab Your Gang & Head To The Movies For A Feel-Good Animation

The weather forecast for the long weekend? Sunny, warm and 40 degrees –phew! If you’re not planning to whisk the fam away for a mini vaycay then why not catch a movie, cosy up together and escape the heat for a bit? From dragons to squirrels, heroes in underpants to jungle critters, cue the popcorn and choose from one of these G rated family friendly movie animations at VOX Cinemas.

Nut Job 2: Nutty By Nature

The sequel to The Nut Job, squirrels Surly and Buddy are back for more adventures! When the animals learn that the evil Mayor (and his uber spoilt-brat daughter) are planning to demolish the park in which they live and build an amusement park in its place, they pull together to try and stop him. Full of funny one-liners and cute characters – we loved ‘Princess’ the pug and the gang of city mice led by ‘Mr Feng’, voiced by Jackie Chan.

Captain Underpants: The First Epic Movie

Based on the Dav Pilkey bestselling book series and boasting an A-list cast of comedy superstars headed by Kevin Hart and Ed Helms, DreamWorks Animation brings us Captain Underpants: The First Epic Movie. Silly, mischievous and good for a giggle – the story follows two cheeky boys called George and Harold, who hypnotise their principal into thinking he’s a ridiculously enthusiastic, incredibly dimwitted superhero named Captain Underpants. Perfect for re-introducing the concept of school after the hols (let’s just hope the kids don’t get any ideas!).

The Jungle Bunch

The Jungle Bunch’s tiger striped Kung Fu Penguin leader (yes, really) Maurice and his comrades who include a goldfish, tarsier, and gorilla fight to protect the jungle from a gang of evil baboons lead by Igor the Koala. Ok so we all know that Koala’s don’t co-exist with baboons but put reality aside and you and the kiddos will love this – particularly because the animation is really beautiful, transporting you to a lush green landscape (just what we’re all craving right now!).

Despicable Me 3

Minions? Again!? Yup, mamas – if you think you can handle a little more of the yellow guys then take the kids along to find out how Gru meets his twin brother Dru he never knew about. Fun for the littles at least.

The Dragon Spell

A Ukranian animation about Little Nicky, the son of a famous strongman who wants to follow in daddy’s footsteps and conquer the dragon (now disguised as a witch – cue a few tears from the very little ones) as his father did long, long ago. Together with Eddie, a wannabe wizard and Rocky a feral wild child, Little Nicky sets out to prove what it takes to be a real hero.
