Whether you’re planning an island escape in the Mediterranean or tropics, once we hit May and the temperatures start to rise in the desert city, all we can think about is escaping the heat. Here are some of the sassiest island holidays near Dubai with family-friendly hotels for the summer…

Bali Kamandalu resort

Bali, Indonesia

After Eat, Pray, Love, Bali has experienced a new level of popularity. And with local airline Emirates introducing Bali as its second location in Indonesia from the 3rd of June, it is the number one spot this summer for island fun. Bali doesn’t only offer white sandy beaches, but also lush jungles in Ubud and unique cultural experiences.

The weather in July and August makes it the best time to visit, although Ubud might be a bit cooler due to its location. Fresh fruit is also in abundance and it’s the perfect opportunity to challenge kids to try the unique fruits, or experience traditional noodle dishes.

Kids will love: A picnic among the rice paddies in Ubud observing the workings of indigenous insects and spotting ducks.
