Pretty In Pastels
Seen as we are in the thick of Spring right now (well that crossover period in the UAE between Winter and stifling hot Summer) I thought I’d pick out my top favourite Pastel pieces adorning the shops and online stores right now. Also, with Easter here – there’s no better time to rock those pastel shades and get you in the mood for Spring, Easter eggs and all things pretty and colourful.
I absolutely love how there is a ‘Colour of the Year’ accolade – well done Pantone! I look forward to finding out each year with this year – ‘Ultra-violet’ – being announced as the 2018 Pantone Colour of the Year (see above) which sits perfectly amongst those fab ice-cream sorbet shades that are everywhere right now and getting us all in the mood for summer holidays.
There is something about pastel shades that just epitomize the meaning of the words ‘pretty’ and ‘girly’. I love how soft they can look against the skin and look just beautiful against neutral shades such as grey, white, cream, navy and even black. I’ve a big love for pastels – you would be surprised how well you can co-ordinate them into your wardrobe so without further ado, lets have a little look at my fav’s right now which may or may not be currently sitting in my various online baskets (don’t tell the husband….!!)

Zara top with matching trousers.
You guys know how much I love a good co-ord set – well this is no exception. I love the colour of course and love how both pieces work great as separates plus this is an outfit which can be totally dressed up or down. #want
Forever New Shirred Dress with Frill Hem (available on ASOS)
Powder Blue is probably the most versatile of all the pastel shades as it can work great in a work environment in shirts, blouses, suits etc buy can also look equally as pretty in a dress form (as above). I love the girly features in this dress including the frills and would look just beautiful for an elegant afternoon tea or even a wedding.

ASOS Design Mix and Match Tailored Suit in Grey Lilac
I’m currently going through a bit of an obsession with tailored suits as there is nothing more feminine than a woman in a well-fitted flattering suit – both as occasion-wear and work-wear. Suits have really come into their own the past couple of fashion seasons – again work amazingly as separates so think of ‘cost-per-wear’ when investing and they can look extremely stunning worn to occasions such as weddings. This blazer in particular (above) would look gorgeous draped over your shoulders and teamed with a white playsuit or tailored shorts for our UAE climate.
Miss Selfridge Culotte Jumpsuit in Pastel Pink (available on Namshi)
It wouldn’t be a pastel pieces post (try saying that five times really fast!!!) without featuring a blush pink shade. This jumpsuit has such a classic style – it will see you right through summer as well as early Autumn and can be worn again both casually and formally plus it’s currently almost half-price on Namshi right now.
Sister Jane Pleated Skirt (available on Namshi)
Pleats are going nowhere these days. They remain a firm favourite amongst the fashion-set and have a demure and lady-like feel about them. Team this with a cute t-shirt or ‘off-the-shoulder’ top for a casual day time look and a silk or sheer blouse for a more evening look.
Ginger High Waisted Trousers in pastel blue (available on Namshi)
I’m a tad obsessed with high-waisted trousers. They suit most body-shapes as well as being super comfortable and very flattering placing emphasis on those fab womanly curves. I love pairing them with a simple t-shirt (in this case a crisp white-tee would look super cute with these). These maybe making their way to the checkout section of my Namshi account!!
Mango Pleated Skirt Dress
Staying on the pleated skirt theme, this Mango dress ticks all the boxes when it comes to most ‘versatile dress of the summer’. From the perfect shade of mint green, to the flared sleeves and pleated skirt, you’re guaranteed lots of wear out of this in the coming months,
