Dreamy Interiors & Heavenly Food, Here’s Why You Must Try Flamingo Room by Tashas

If you’re after a feast for the eyes as much as a delicious one on your plate, Flamingo Room by Tashas is it. Sister resto to Tashas at Galleria Mall, I’d heard so much about this eatery at Jumeirah Al Naseem and it lived up to every compliment and then some.

The Occasion

Breakfast and a long overdue catch up with a mama friend. Flamingo Room by Tashas is open from 9am for breakfast, lunch and dinner but there’s nothing like a leisurely brekkie after drop-off plus cups of very good coffee to get the day started right.

The Venue

Beautifully located on the waterfront at Jumeirah Al Naseem you can choose to sit inside or out on a deck overlooking the turtles swimming in the lagoon (pretty magical if you have kids in tow!). This place was made for instagramming – the interiors are completely divine, mixing a touch of vintage glamour – think antique mirrors, huge indoor plants, a blush pink colour palette, patterned flamingo cushions and the occasional flash of zebra print with art deco influences. Delicate floral sculptures float overhead and huge metal leaf sculptures form a backdrop to the bar – eating here is like being in an enchanted garden. And if you like what you see, a little boutique in the corner of the restaurant sells some of the cute accessories and accents plus other South African inspired curios so that you can attempt to recreate the vibe at home.

The Vibe

Relaxed, cool, friendly but still chic – we saw the space during the day when daylight gives it a beautiful blush glow but I can imagine that at night when candles flicker it would be equally beautiful. This is definitely a place to take visitors.

The Food

Now here’s the thing – it’s rare to find a place that does atmosphere and interiors as well as it does food –but at Flamingo Room by Tashas they’ve got it all. The restaurant has South African roots and the breakfast menu mixes the expected morning staples with quirky additions – cauliflower steak with poached egg, avocado salsa and wilted spinach anyone? We tucked into beautifully presented portions of creamed avo and feta on open sandwiches, parmesan & truffle scrambled eggs and ricotta hotcakes with fresh berries and honeycomb crème (yup, the diet stayed at home…). But there was so much more we wanted to try – from lobster benedict to a gluten free salmon turmeric crepe – these breakfast options are as gorgeous as the restaurant itself – just what foodie dreams are made of.

Room For Improvement

I couldn’t fault anything – ok so my coffee order got mixed up but hey, it’s small fry and was fixed in a flash.

What We Loved Most

My friend and I raved about the interiors, we photographed details, we ate like queens and we lusted after the wait staff uniforms (black or leopard print jumpsuits especially designed for the venue and sadly not available to purchase!). We loved it all and if breakfast could have rolled into lunch and then lunch into dinner – we would have been perfectly happy sitting amongst the flamingos all day.
