Gaucho Grill: A Date Night With All 3 Of My Boys

A Date Night For The Whole Fam

Since becoming parents my husband and I usually find ourselves in two types of situations when dining out:

a) ‘Family’ restaurant, with us desperately trying not get hit by flying fries or spilled juice

or…

b) At a fancy date night without our kids who are staying home with our nanny, most likely ducking flying fries and spilled juice

Wouldn’t it be great if you could combine the two and start teaching your kids how to behave at a nice restaurant? Citizens of the world and all that?

I know it sounds riskaayyy but… we decided to give it a go with the perfect set up: The Gaucho Saturday Roast. This just happened to coincide with this mama’s 25th birthday (give me a break!) and the boys knew they had to behave, kind of.

Gaucho Grill isn’t your typical steakhouse; it’s more slick (Argentinian… you know) which does half the job with the kids. They walk in and realise, uh oh can’t throw fries here. Not gonna’ happen.

We decided to book an early slot at 6.30pm to make sure the kids would be able to stay on their best, code for acceptable, behaviour throughout the meal. In hindsight I think we could have started at 6pm but all good in the end. Our youngest fell asleep after the main course, score!

For anyone who knows Gaucho from London or NYC, the food is simply great. These guys know how to serve up mean steaks along with several other beauties such as ‘Tuna Tartar on a bed of Guacamole’, REAL Ribs that are not too spicy and go down well with the kids as well as ‘Empanadas’, which is like the queen of pirogue.

I’m going to be honest; Saturday Roast at Gaucho doesn’t come cheap… BUT your kids will get a sniff of the real world. Plus, YOU won’t have to prepare dinner and the food will cater to all ages, as in ALL. We loved it. Even if my 6 year old had a little snooze at the table (hey, we’ve all been there…).
