Balance Café
Part of the Balance Wellness Club in Oasis Centre, Balance Café has created a menu inspired by the ancient Indian healing system of Ayurveda. (You know the idea that a person’s body needs to balance the five elements to be truly healthy?) The menu can be a tad confusing but once you figure out how to navigate the flavours there are tons of vegan, dairy and gluten-free options to choose from.

All dishes are calorie as well as mineral counted and clearly marked for any food intolerances and allergies.

bestroBestro (Be Super Natural)
Dubai’s first living raw foods restaurant located on the top floor of Galleries LaFayette is a definite destination for anyone looking to explore something different and seriously tasty. The menu is 100% raw, organic & vegan and is a one-of-a-kind in Dubai. Although the choice isn’t huge, the menu changes daily so there is always something new to try.

The food is truly amazing and the smoothies are to-die mamas. If you’ve ever considered going raw- this should be your first stop for inspiration!

ComptoirComptoir 102
This regular Sassy hang out is a definite neighborhood favourite for Jumeirah mamas. They serve up organic, sugar- and dairy-free food and sweet treats that are so yummy we only wish the portions were slightly larger. They have a daily changing two-course lunch menu, with the option of dessert- thank you very much! Gluten-free, dairy-free and raw food are all the rage here. Order an almond milk smoothie (made from scratch), sit back in their cooled outdoor lounge and slurp up the good stuff!

Omnia Gourmet
This brand new deli café headed by chef Silvena Rowe in the new souk at Jumeirah Fishing Harbour is quickly becoming a health foodie destination. The menu offers up amazingly creative organic food specializing in gluten-free, sugar-free and raw creations.  But this is by no means fun-free… oh no. There is a great selection of sumptuous raw, gluten free, sugar AND dairy free desserts (!) for mamas with a sweet tooth. A minute on the lips a lifetime on the hips? No more we say!

Jumeirah Fish Harbour 1, off Jumeirah Beach Road, Jumeirah 2, Dubai

Psst.. You should definitely keep an eye out for chef Silvena Rowe’s new flagship restaurant Omnia by Silvena set to open mid August. Yummy Emirati cuisine-inspired dishes on the menu according to the chef herself.

The Farm
In the middle of Al Barari, just a 15 minute drive out of town, The Farm is something of a little oasis surrounded by greenery and a botanical garden. A menu full of ethically sourced ingredients that changes with the seasons includes several gluten-free and vegan options. The scrambled tofu is a definite brekkie favourite as well as the gluten-free pancakes for the younger crowd. They have a small but good kids menu with tasty (and healthy) options for fussy little eaters. Their whole wheat Fusilli with Napolitaine sauce was tried and tested by a bunch of little boys on our last visit and got a huge thumbs up!

Fine Green Dining

Table 9
For those of us who are mourning the closure of Magnolia (Dubai’s only ever high-end vegan, raw restaurant), there is always Table9. Or rather, there is always the Six Course Vegetarian Tasting Menu, No meat and No fish (not vegan, there is goat’s cheese in one of the dishes and cream in the dessert) at Table9. At AED350 it is rather pricey but you get what you pay for mamas.

Down to Earth Organic Food
With a large range of dried goods and staples such as cereals, condiments, oils and ready-to-eat snacks, Down to Earth Organic has become a well-known brand amongst mamas shopping for quality. Although they do have a physical outlet, we much prefer just clicking home what we need from their online store. In addition to their own brand, they also stock some from Europe and India.

A hand-picked group of local farms supply the ingredients that are harvested every morning before being put into the boxes. The boxes are available for weekly deliveries and can be purchased online for home delivery.

We have to say that the site isn’t super user-friendly but the boxes themselves get the thumbs up from our mamas in the know. Wheat grass, eggs and organic milk also available.

greenheart organic farmsGreenheart Organic Farms
An organic farm in the desert might sound a bit strange, but trust us there is nothing strange about this amazing company’s produce. Organic free-range eggs, home-made goats cheese, raw honey, organic milk and a selection of locally grown and harvested fresh fruit and veggies free from hormones, pesticides and the other nasties.

They also offer various weekly mixed boxes of fruit and vegetables for home delivery. Love, love, love that.

Markets & Platters
We love heading to Markets & Platters whenever we are planning a special meal or a dinner party. Although they have an excellent selection of artisan cheese from all over the world as well as Caviar, Voss water and other gourmet foods (which don’t exactly live up to our healthy standards), we tend to go here for the line-caught fish.

naughtybutnutritiousNaughty but Nutritious

Organic Foods & Café
A Dubai institution and a Sassy Mama favourite; you can think of the Organic Foods & Café as “the Spinneys of organic food”. When it comes to staples such as almond milk, stevia extract, quinoa, spelt and healthy snacks for the kids you just can’t beat this place. We find ourselves here at least once per week stocking up on healthy goodies. They recently started stocking organic, local milk as well which is a mega-rare treat. If you can’t face the actual trip to one of their stores, the online store is fully loaded with free delivery in Dubai for order over AED250.
