With summer well and truly upon us and the effects of a/c, lots of sun and sleepless nights too taking their toll, the realisation has finally hit that our parched skin needs a little TLC fast!

Drinking a bucketload of water is one of the best ways to rehydrate and helps to flush out the nasty toxins that accumulate in our bodies. Aim for eight glasses a day and keep a sports bottle with you all the time to track how much you are actually getting through – you will be surprised!  If you can forfeit your daily coffee for a cup of green tea, this can also assist us on our journey for glowing skin amongst many other health benefits. And remember to go green and refill your own water bottle or coffee cup rather than going for non-biodegradable plastics…

Daily collagen drinks are now trending more than ever and promise to promote health from the inside out. We love skinade, the daily mango flavoured drink that offers results in just 30 days when taken daily. When it comes to your beauty regime to tackle tired, lacklustre skin, the first step is a must and cannot be neglected – EXFOLIATION. Next, make time to moisturise! We know it can seem like a chore but it is imperative to keep skin looking its best, especially throughout the summer months. The best time to moisturise is as soon as you step out of the shower when the skin is still damp. Before bed we love a rich, luxurious moisturiser such as the Soothing Balm by HydroPeptide.

And for a morning when we are whizzing around on mama duties, we can’t get enough of The Body Shop’s new Body Yogurts. They absorb super-fast and come in a range of delicious scents.

Ideally before you leave the house or as soon as you get to the beach (or anywhere sunny!), make sure to apply your SPF – LIBERALLY. It is so important mamas and if you’re anything like us, it can be so easy to tend to the minis and other half and forgetting about ourselves. For the whole family we don’t think you can beat Avene’s Hydrating Lotion with SPF 50. It is waterproof, easy to apply and gives long lasting hydration.  For our face, we also love Filorga’s UV-Bronze Face in SPF 50. This sun fluid is anti-ageing (hooray!) and offers high protection from dark spots.

Another must-have product for keeping skin in tip-top condition when you are out and about is Face Mist. It’s a staple in our handbag to freshen up on the go and helps refresh make up, giving us a dewy glow in just a few spritzes. The Body Shop have a selection of 5 minis for mattifying, soothing, calming and smoothing the skin and are easy on the wallet priced at AED 45 each.

Another firm favourite of ours is the award-winning Avene Thermal Spring Water that calms, soothes and softens skin. Ideal for red, sensitive or irritated skin pop it in your gym bag, travel bag or make up bag!

For added extra glow, we recommend a weekly face mask, and the sheet variety are our clear winner. Perfect for the time poor amongst us, most require no washing off and can simply be left to absorb into the skin. Our current favourites are Skin Republic which can be picked up from Spinneys on your weekly food shop and for a more luxurious treat, Rodial’s brand new Vit C sheet masks contain additional Amino Acids, Hyaluronic Acid and Green Tea to transform the dullest of complexion!
