JG Dining Room: A date night where you’ll definitely fall in love … with the food!

We’re spoilt for choice in Dubai when it comes to eating out and great restaurants and now there’s another fabulous place to add to the list: JG Dining Room by Jean-Georges who’s responsible for the operation and success of a constellation of 3 and 4 star restaurants worldwide.

With 2 Jean Georges restaurants housed under one roof at the Four Seasons Hotel in Jumeriah: JG Kitchen which offers a casual dining experience (perfect for the whole family) and JG Dining Room which offers a unique fine dining culinary heaven (perfect for date night!). Hubby and I tried the latter and it was honestly one of the best dining experiences we’ve had. When I think about the food at JG my mouth waters and my taste buds dance with excitement – this is French dining with a touch of American and Asian flavour – completely amazing.

We went with the 4 course set meal – the menu of which was so exciting that we knew we were in for a treat. When you add fantastic service from every member of staff from the maître d to the waiters and an overall ambience of understated sophistication with a buzz and energy that only the best restaurants can create – you get an experience that’s just a complete and utter treat.

The set menu advantage is that you can sit back and just savour the culinary journey as beautiful food keeps appearing in magical formations – perfect! Each course had a signature dish which my hubby decided to try. From lemon gelee caviar with creme friache to diver Scallops with caramelised cauliflower, Turbot with chateaux chalon sauce and then the parmesan crusted organic chicken – he raved about every one.

I opted for the roasted foie gras with lychee, charred corn ravioli and the Wagyu beef tenderloin with baby spinach which was all so good that I can barely write about it without wanting to go back for more.

I have a very VERY sweet tooth so I desert was a must. As Jean Georges is the creator of the chocolate fondue (big hats off to him for that alone),  I wasn’t going home without giving it a try. To my delight, it was exceptional – of course!

The greatness of JG is that we still feel there is more to the journey (i.e we want to go back and eat everything that we didn’t get to try the first time). Whether casual or fine dining there are so many dishes and flavours to explore and a return visit is very much on the cards – yes it’s expensive mamas but worth every penny if you’re a foodie and you’re looking for a truly Michelin Starred experience.
