Got a munchkin with a keen eye for cinematography?
Have you a budding videographer on your hands, mama? Good news: Reel Cinemas has got an awesome summer camp for kids aged eight to 18. The first of its kind in the Middle East, your mini Scorsese will have a blast learning new skills (that they won’t learn in a classroom at school!) and making new friends at this month-long camp this season.
Tweens and teens will have the opportunity to learn about the whole filmmaking process from beginning to end, from coming up with an idea for a good story right through to scriptwriting, shooting and finally editing their beautiful creations. Hollywood, here they come!
Also covered in the summer camp is how to operate special equipment and lighting and how to direct and manage actors. All useful if you’ve got a big kid who’s fascinated with all things film and the entertainment industry.
It sounds like fun and games – and it definitely will be – and the best bit is that the camp is backed by Murdoch University Dubai. Tiny tykes will get a certificate from the university upon completion.
It’s AED 2,000 per participant, which includes the course, loan of camera equipment from film heavyweight Nikon, lunch each day of the course and an invite to the fabulous awards ceremony. Yep, after working hard for a month, participating kiddos get to glam up for a special ceremony to recognise their creative talents and that of their peers.
To register, download the registration form, complete it and bring it to the Reel Cinemas box office at The Dubai Mall or Dubai Marina Mall along with a copy of your child’s Emirates ID, copy of their passport and a copy of their visa. Easy.
