Letter From The Editor: Loving February

Well hello February, you’ve come around very quickly! For some of us this time of year can feel like a bit of a post-holiday let down – but actually there are so many reasons to be cheery – especially here in Dubai with the gorgeous weather (including exciting rain showers) allowing us to make the most of the great outdoors. Our forthcoming guide to the new foodie outlets on Kite Beach and a guide to the best camping spots for families in and around Dubai will hopefully help motivate you to get out and explore. On a personal level, February is very special for me as my little boy will turn 3 on his birthday –but actually he won’t really – born on 29^th on a leap year he will have to wait until next 2016 for his first ‘real’ celebration!

With Valentine’s Day just around the corner we’re full of love this month and will be bringing you the very best date night deals or stay-at-home options for the big day itself plus letting the kiddos play cupid with crafty projects to get stuck into – and our new food contributor the very wonderful Annabel Karmel has created some tasty heart shaped treats for tots that are guaranteed to get huge smiles and very happy tummys. We’ll also be revealing our 14 ways to our heart gift guide full of gorgeous pressie ideas that the Sassy Mama team would love to receive as well as inspiring you to go out and buy for the men in your lives – yeah we know that Valentines is commercial but any excuse to share some love and indulge in a little shopping is just fine by us.

With the DSF sales coming to an end, stores are preparing to fill their rails with Spring/Summer collections – I’m focusing on dressing my house this month – having moved over 5  months ago I still haven’t got round to hanging pictures or getting it guest-ready. I’m loving Crate and Barrel’s Spring collection, inspired by the easy lifestyle and fresh colours of a serene shore – perfect for refreshing every room without breaking the bank. I also got a sneak peek at the new H&M Home collection, launching in March at Deira City Center – mamas you are going to love their affordable yet stylish accessories – the whimsical patterns and shabby chic accessories were particular favourites – can’t wait to visit the store.

Oh and let’s not forget one of the easiest way to our hearts – through our stomachs – Sassy Mama Dubai is a proud partner of The Dubai Food Festival which will return to the city on February 6^th for just over 3 weeks and we can’t wait to track down those food trucks and enjoy some wholesome family time over a bite or two at the Beach Canteen on Kite Beach.
And finally, another out-of-the-box party idea whether you’re planning a baby shower or throwing a birthday bash, The Lush House Party bring games, activities – and more importantly goodie bags full of Lush products for everyone to enjoy – we’re curious and we can’t wait to try it!
