A mini guide to what’s hot and what’s new in & around Dubai this month

November’s here which means gorgeous beach weather, balmy evenings and plenty of outdoor fun – at last! I’m looking forward to dusting off the barbecue and getting back into the garden, heading out to the desert and enjoying lots of the al fresco spots that have been out of bounds all summer. This is the month for getting active and healthy (especially after all those Halloween goodies) – and for rediscovering the beauty of this fabulous city and its desert surroundings. Oh, and there are only 52 sleeps until Christmas… yikes! Time for some early shopping too?! From new family activities to hotel news and treats, her are a few of the things I’m loving in November. Have a great month, mamas!

Anantara Al Jabal Al Akhdar

Dreaming…

Of a stay at the newly opened Anantara Al Jabal Al Akhdar Resort & Spa. I’m a huge fan of the Anantara brand and this gorgeous property, set in the stunning rocky contours of the Saiq Plateau on Oman’s beautiful Green Mountain is not only the highest five start resort in the Middle East (at 2,000 metres above sea level) but also way up there on my current wanderlust-list! With stunning accommodation options, an infinity pool that looks out over the canyon, spa and hammam, kids club, teens club and a list of awesome facilities this property sounds perfect for the whole family. The climate here is milder than down here in the city so is perfect for hiking, exploring and biking plus there are towering forts and timeless souks to discover in the nearby ancient city of Nizwa. Oh, and they’ve got some fabulous opening offers at the moment – so get booking! Definitely one for the list to Santa!

Fahrenheit Beachsports Dubai

Playing…

In the water at Dubai Marine Beach Resort’s private bay and with Dubai’s newest watersports concept – Faranheit Beachsports. Perfect for every single member of the family, this fab setup brings us every type of watersport with a focus on making sure that experiences are unique and memorable – but also totally safe! Think clear-kayaks (perfect for spotting fish with the kids), inflatable tows, fly-boards, kids SUP’s and loads LOADS more plus fitness classes, kids birthday parties, surf safaris, group activities – the list is endless! This is water play at it’s very very best.

The Collective Al Quoz

Hanging Out…

At The Collective/Ripe Organic Kitchen, Al Quoz, the coolest lifestyle and shopping destination in Dubai – launching this weekend (Friday, 4 November, 2016!). This new concept space will include a raw food and juice café, Ripe Organic Kitchen and little market space with vendors including The Movement, The Kilim Shop and Tribe plus artisans and crafts people, all brought together by amazing mama and founder of Ripe, Becky Balderstone. With everything from regular workshops to foodie events and yoga classes planned for the future, I can foresee lots of time spent here. Can’t wait.

Give a tee a bag

Recycling…

My old tees with ‘Give a tee a bag’, a really cute new eco-friendly initiative to save the planet from plastic bags by making reusable ones from your old t-shirts! With a list of sewing volunteers on hand – ready to upcycle your tees into grocery bags, I really hope that this super cool project gets lots of support.

Aventura high ropes adventure Mushrif Park

Anticipating…

The opening of Aventura high ropes Adventure Park this December – the first of its kind in the city, complete with activities including wall climbing, tree top surfing and zip lining. Set in a forest area of Mushrif Park near Mirdif, the park promises to combine fun adventures for all ages with nature and the outdoors. Hooray!

Jungle Jacks Banana Chips

Treating…

The kiddos to Junglee Jack Banana Chips, the most delicious alternative to regular crisps. Made from freshly harvested bananas, cut into thin slices and kettle cooked with coconut oil before being seasoned with flavours including salt and vinegar, bbq, Dijon mustard and chocolate swirl – these are a HUGE hit in our house and the ideal lunchbox snack. Find them in Spinneys (unless I’ve given into my cravings and bought the lot).
