Check out our May Edition: A mini guide to what we’re doing and loving in Dubai this month!
Recharge with Smoothie Bombs – the best way to get a whole load of good stuff into you first thing in the morning (and get the kids to eat/drink stuff
they might usually turn their noses up). Simply make your usual smoothie (or milkshake as I like to disguise it as for the kids) and add a smoothie bomb – easy! We tried the raw cacao version which includes coconut oil, chia seeds and other super healthy stuff that also tasted great – the kids didn’t blink – there’s also a super green version with spirulina. In a rush? Eat them as they are or crumble into your cornflakes. Oh and apparently you can even make cookies with them.
Available to buy at Greenheart Organic Farms Shop – a tube of 5 costs AED 69.
Book A table at Gaucho’s Cinema Sundays where you’ll not only be treated to a Gaucho style movie menu (think gourmet popcorn, hot-dogs and other scrummy stuff) but also a comfy sofa to snuggle up on with your other half and a film too. May is Bond month so catch a few of film’s most famous villains (and Mr. Bond himself of course) over drinks and nibbles. And it gets better – the Gaucho Film Club takes the movie night experience to a whole new level, matching whatever’s on screen with what’s on your plate and in your glass -A-MA-ZING!
Gaucho Cinema Sundays cost AED 100 per person including food and soft drinks (if you fancy a tipple you can pay extra). Gaucho Film Club screenings cost AED 295 per person and include a specially created menu and accompanying drinkies.
Canvas prints through Canvasjet – a fab company that makes turning all those digital images into wall art a breeze! Whether you’ve got loads of photos saved on your laptop (guilty) or you want a physical version of your instagram feed, these guys can do it all and the quality is awesome. Login to Facebook and select images you’d love to have on canvas – or make an instagram collage. Choose filters, canvas sizes, borders etc – the options are limitless (but not in an intimidating don’t-know-where-to-start kind of way). You’ll be sent a proof before everything goes to print and then can expect delivery just a couple of days later! Love, love, love! First timers get a discount too – just get onto their site and start creating.
We are lusting after everything in Blanc D’Ivoire, the most beautiful interiors store on Al Wasl Road that offers everything from furniture to the little accessories that make each of your rooms sparkle. Bright and airy, there are loads of pieces that make a refreshing change from the dark, heavy furniture that you so often find out here. And our favourite Frenchies, Alex and Emma from So Chic have their very own corner in the store if you want to pick up some preloved designer or Parisian boutique clothing.
This May we are snapping up all the travel essentials from Sephora – there’s literally nothing this gorgeous beauty haven doesn’t offer. If you’re looking for the best hairdryer, they’ve got it (Hershesons btw), if you want the latest in face-masks then go here – and their range of mini travel essentials is just perfect when you want space in your suitcase for other stuff (and shopping, of course). I picked up a little tangle-teezer brush, mini face/eye cleanser, hair-ties and other really useful little bits and pieces.
Calling in the experts. Frankly, anything Liberty related is likely to get me spending (or not – Paperless Post has a clever ‘coin’ system that gives you some credits before you need to dig out the cash). I’ve been happily sending out Liberty of London for Paperless Post invites for my little girl Violet’s 3rd birthday party. The Liberty of London range is gorgeous and so perfect for my little flower – with bright poppies, clusters of violets and dreamy rose petals these dreamy designs are available in digital and also now print (yes, paperless post isn’t purely paperless anymore). And I’m going to top it all off by ordering party accessories from Party Camel who have just launched the most stunning Liberty range that’s as perfect for a little girl’s tea party as it is for your next garden get-together.
Is it still considered playing, if we’re shopping at the same time? We are LOVING Level Kids in City Walk Phase 2 – a kiddie department store that’s different on so many levels (literally). Yes they have the very best in fashion, including Bonpoint, Little Marc Jacobs and Sunuva but the space also offers a play area, VIC (Very Important Child) room for tantrum free trying on sessions and an events calendar that features interactive story telling, cookie decorating, arts & crafts, a movie club and loads more. I foresee much time (and money?!) being spent here.
Have an awesome month of May, mamas!
