Food, Fun & Culture Plus Lots More – Here’s What We Love To Do In Alserkal Avenue With Kids In Tow
Alserkal Avenue has been around a while now but it’s only in the last few years that this fabulous cultural destination and arts hub in Al Quoz has started offering a great selection of places to take the kids. Here’s a wrap up of our favourite kid-friendly spots to visit and explore.
If your kids love to jump, climb, leap and fly – or if you would just like them to give it a go – the team at Parkour DXB can help them channel energy and have a heck of a lot of fun while doing it. They have a regular schedule of classes for ages 3-17 along with adults only and family sessions to take your kids (2+) along. They also host super fun birthday parties and are in the same space as Hapi, a café for mums and dads to grab lunch or a coffee while you wait for your daredevils to bust their moves.
Looking for somewhere that the kids can get arty or if you have older kids that have a passion for art and they want to learn more around techniques Jam Jar has something for all of the family whether it is a one off workshop, joining the Youth Arts Programme or simply popping in for some DIY painting this is the place to let those creative juices flow. Jam Jar is also a super popular party place and you can check out Sassymama’s guide to throwing a party there here.
Who doesn’t love chocolate? Now you have the chance to take the kids into a chocolate factory to see how chocolate is made from roasting the beans all the way through to hand wrapping the bars. Not to mention the taste testing available as well and having the scent of chocolate enveloping you the whole the time you are there. From time to time they host kids workshops, especially around the school holidays, but they welcome everyone anytime to visit an learn about their chocolate.

Home to the popular Happy Boxes, which are fun, educational boxes of goodies to keep little ones busy and happy, this is a fun party and event venue where kids can have arts and craft fun, go unicorn spotting and play in a bath or a VW Beetle full of balloons. When parties are not in full swing you can take the kids in to check out the team making the Happy Boxes ready to send out to kids around town.
Home to the Sima Dance Company this venue has a series of events and workshops planned for the year. The kids can do ballet and contemporary dance classes throughout the year and we look forward to see what special events are planned for Dubai families who want to enjoy being immersed in performance art.
A contemporary art museum, the JPNF hosts exhibitions throughout the year and also runs fantastic workshops throughout the year. Their Family Program covers a wide range of topics including “Geometry in Sculpture” and “Zero Degree:Radical Painting”.
