Save Money While Still Enjoying The Good Life, Mamas! It’s A Win/Win!
Looking to tighten your belt a little, mamas? We know the feeling! Back to school means afternoon activities (check out our latest list), uniform and all that jazz plus there’s money to spend on getting our homes and gardens visitor/winter ready and Christmas in 3 months time (yes, it’s true!). Make a few minor adjustments and you can be saving heaps while also getting the best out of the city! Here are 9 ways to do it.

Beam is a mobile wallet app – basically a way of paying for stuff without reaching for your cash or card. And the good part? You earn rewards every time you spend – in the form of dirhams not points – to redeem at any of the Beam partner brands. Doing your weekly Carrefour shop? no problem! Pay via your app. Or maybe you’re refuelling your car? Yup, you can do that via Beam too. Accepted at over 3000 stores (including some of our fashion faves), get downloading, mamas!

Ok we know what you’re thinking – how the heck is spending on a coffee machine saving money? Well we did the maths, mamas, and turns out that if you love your daily lattes then you should invest in your own machine. Let’s break it down. A basic nespresso machine costs AED 549 (price via Sharaf DG) and a sleeve of 10 x coffee pods AED 27.50 (price via buynespresso.com/ae). That’s just under AED 3 per coffee. If you buy a latte in a coffee shop every day, you’ll be spending approximately AED 540 each month. You get the picture. Buy the machine.

Trying to keep up with your kids growing feet is expensive! Head to Clarks where you can buy 3 pairs for the price of 2 – perfect if you’ve got many children or if you want to stock up on bigger sizes! Perfect for school shoes or sneakers (we also love the girlie glittery styles they currently have). Hurry, offer finishes at the end of September (but this is one they run regularly so keep an eye out, mamas!).

The Entertainer needs no introduction! Founded by mama Donna Benton (read her ‘That Mama’ interview here) this fabulous book and app provides ‘Buy One Get One Free’ offers for dining, attractions, leisure, spas, beauty & fitness, hotels and much more. If you have visitors coming to Dubai before the year’s out then buy the app – you can get the 2017 version for a discounted price now. We love.

We’ve raved about Koita milk for a while now (you know, the organic milk, made by happy cows fed on gorgeous grass and NOT packaged up in plastic). Well you can now get your Koita milk delivered to your door with a whopping 20% discount until the end of October 2017. Whether you want to stock up on 200mls for school lunches, chocolate milk for an after-school treat, or Soy milk for your non-dairy lattes, there is a 20% discount for all UAE- based customers, on all products purchased through their website when quoting BTS20p at checkout.

The price of berries in most supermarkets is eye-watering – but we’ve found a solution, mamas! Kibsons is an awesome delivery service that offers all the fruit and veg (and now also meat and dairy) you could possibly want at a fraction of the price. Strawberries? currently AED 8 per packet. YUM! Order online and the Kibsons van will be making its way to you pronto.

We love a bargain, mamas – and the drive out to Dubai Outlet Mall (even if we get lost every time…) is totally worth it for picking up everything from designer gear to kids clothes. And, each Monday is Bargain Monday where all of the absolute best prices are displayed outside all participating malls, making it really easy to shop, shop, shop without melting the credit cards!

Stock up on all your family essentials at the monthly 20% off promotion at Organic Foods & Cafe every third Friday and Saturday. From fruit & veg to fresh meat and milk plus loads of pantry staples, get the kids involved too (the mini trolleys are so cute!). Mark the dates in your diary and get there early, it gets busy busy!

If you love hanging about at hotel pools (who doesn’t, right?!) while the kids splash in dedicated children’s areas and there’s the option to order something chilled to be delivered right to our lounger then sign up for Privilee, a membership card that’ll let you do all that – as often as you like – for a fixed price each month, making it sooooo much more cost effective than paying for a day pass each time. Privilee also gives you discounts on f&b (including brunches) AND lots of the hotels offer use of their kids clubs too for when your little darlings need a break from the sun (and you need a break from them!). A 5 Star life-style without the 5 Star price tag. Hooray!
