What do you get when you mix some of the region’s hottest fashion designers with a charity supporting the wellbeing of teeny tiny newborn babies in Pakistan? Well mamas it just happens to be the most beautiful range of t-shirts, the proceeds of which are donated to providing a preventative health check commonly known ‘heel prick’ test or ‘New Born Screening’ that – thankfully -most of our bubbas would have had at birth.
Available around the world, this test will detect otherwise non-obvious diseases that can, in turn, be treated and most often cured – and is now being offered in Pakistan thanks to the amazing efforts of local charity the ZB Foundation. We’re all about supporting family related charities at Sassy Mama but this one is particularly close to our hearts given that it’s run by our very own Sassy Mama Dani and her hubby Akber, who turned the unimaginably painful situation of losing their adopted daughter Zahra to a disease that could have been detected if the heel prick test had been available at her birth into a desire to give all of the babies born in Pakistan a chance from the very beginning.
Mamas if there’s one item you need to be buying for your or your kiddos wardrobes this season then the ZB Foundation t-shirt is it. Created by four of the region’s home-grown fashion designers – Reema Ameer, Ayah Tabari, Maha Abdul Rasheed and Ayesha Depala, each design is an adaptation of Dani’s ‘on the wings of an angel’ theme and each is utterly gorgeous. And the best bit? each tee sold will provide a newborn screening test for one baby in Pakistan. Need another reason to buy one? No, we didn’t think so.
T-shirts retail for AED 225 – the price of a newborn screening test – and are available online at Babysouk.com and at Boom & Mellow, Bambah Boutique and S*ucette. Visit The ZB Foundation for more information on this amazing cause.
