The Weekender: Ice Factor, Cine Splash, DXB Kids Drumming Circle and More

It’s time for another Weekender mamas: this time you can cool off at a fantastic kids ice skating competition, have a movie marathon, beat your own drum and of course, check out a few awesome weekend promotions to kick back and relax. It’s all right here in our Weekender!

Hit the ice

Dubai Ice Rink’s hosting Ice Factor, a fun ice skating competition for children aged 4+. Cheer on your little or enjoy watching the tinies cut a rug across the rink – definitely a good way to (literally) cool off over the weekend!

One for the bookworms
Got a voracious little reader in the family? This one’s a good shout then – Kids Read is a great event run by the British Council and HSBC to help promote reading amongst primary kiddos aged 6-10. We’re sure even the surliest of tots will want to get involved in their fun storytelling activities; there’s also an educational English class that’s well worth sticking round for.

Drum roll please…
If you’ve not had the chance to head over to Dubai Drumming’s Kids Drumming Circle Classes, then now’s the perfect time to head over. With loads of experience teaching to people of all ages, it’s all held over at the Urban Tribe Studio for a small price and it’s a fun twist on weekend entertainment. The best thing? Mom and pop can get involved too!

When: 30 May, 11-12pm

Splashing great times
Held every Thursday and Friday, Cine Splash is an awesome pool party/outdoor cinema experience geared towards families. It’s all going on over at the beautiful Dubai Polo & Equestrian Club and the price includes a towel and popcorn – you don’t have to be a member to go along either as they start selling non-member tickets at 6:30pm. On Thursday, they’ll be showing How to Train Your Dragon 2 and Bolt, while on Friday they’ll be showing Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs 2 and Tin Tin.

When: 28-29 May, 7pm onwards (guest tickets available at 6:30pm)

We do have a soft spot for Manzil Hotel. The food is always delicious and they’ve launched an Afternoon Tea, which you know is going to be exquisite. The price is definitely right as well at AED 174 for two, so we think we can justify enjoying it every week! It’s definitely time for a bit of girly goss, mama.
