Tiny Bites: Breakfast at Clinton Street Baking Company

EatPost Category - EatEat - Post Category - Eating OutEating Out

Stepping into Clinton Street Baking Company feels like how I imagine it would be going out for a nice weekend breakfast in New York. And for very good reason I’d say. This downtown gem is actually a born and bred New Yorker that is fast becoming a must-visit in Dubai. The food is absolutely awesome and guess what, it’s also organic, which in my world means – eat as much as you like! Because… it’s goooood for you, mamas!

So we took the kids the other weekend for lunch and were surrounded by the kind of people we used to be (people having big breakfasts at noon on a Saturday). As any mama knows, dining out with kids is a bit of a hit-and-miss, to say the least, and I’ve found one of the keys to keeping disappointment low and spirits high is ordering different dishes to share. They don’t actually have a dedicated kids menu at Clinton Street, but let’s face it, even if you order a child meal for the younger crew you will end up having those fish fingers if your little one fancies miso cod or whatever you’ve ordered for yourself.

The Clinton Street menu is seriously mouthwatering and we went all in on the order. First show stopper: The Daily Special, poached eggs with pulled beef and chipotle hollandaise. It was as good as it sounds. For the kids –who ended up wanting the Daily Special… -we ordered a Farmer’s Plates with scrambled eggs, chicken apple sausage and sourdough toast on it.

We also decided on a Spanish Scramble, which is kind of like an omelet with beef chorizo, cheese and tomatoes. Get in ma belly! The Kale & Quinoa Salad was also seriously great, kale really juicy and soft with tons of avo, but in hindsight I think we just needed that on the table to feel better about ourselves.

But hang on you say… Isn’t Clinton Street famous for their pancakes…? Why yes they are and they are hands down the best pancakes we’ve ever had- and yes the whole fam agreed! A generous stack of thick and juicy pancakes with the just the right balance between salty and buttery. These babies came with a side of caramel-syrup (that’s how we would describe it at least) and blueberries on top. Now why would anyone deprive themselves of such a treat? Exactly, don’t.
