5 Tips On How To Implement The CreaKids Unique Heart Programme Into Your Everyday

LearnPost Category - LearnLearn

Norwegian Inspired Education With Heart

We’ve long raved about CreaKids in Ibn Battuta and The Sustainable City – a unique education offering that combines the best of all worlds with a Norwegian, Montessori and British (EYFS) curriculum for infants up to 6 year olds. Apart from their fabulous facilities and encompassing ethos that supports nurturing well-rounded, happy kids according to their individual talents and interests, there’s something extra special offered at this unique learning center that really gets our hearts beating.

We’re talking about The Heart Programme, one of the coolest teaching concepts we’ve heard of, covering subjects relating to ethics, philosophy, philanthropy and humanitarianism and working to teach kiddos to have an open heart, an understanding for others, tolerance and empathy while increasing their own self-esteem and confidence. This is all about community and environment and having the best interests of your kids at heart when facing all the challenges and complexities of today’s world. We LOVE.

And because The CreaKids team are all about sharing, they’ve put together 5 tips on how we can incorporate The Heart Programme in our kiddo’s lives. Call it a heart-to-heart – from their experts to us mamas…

Focus on the Positive

Make an effort to acknowledge the good things your child does every day and praise them for it. Children learn through experiences and positive reinforcement gives them the confidence to take on any situation. For example: “Mason you are so organized and tidy, can you help me organize the toys in your room.” (great tip for getting stuff cleaned up without resorting to the dreaded nagging!).

Praise

Children like to be recognized and appreciated. Your child benefits the most when you accept him for who he is regardless of his strengths, difficulties, temperament, or abilities. A compliment and a genuine appreciation for his effort is all your child needs to help build his self-confidence e.g. well done for getting dressed all by yourself darling….(even when their outfit of choice is dubious or their shirt is on backwards).

Home is where the heart is

A huge factor of a child’s development is based on the living environment that they’re involved in every day. A child who is exposed to parents who fight and argue repeatedly may feel they have no control over their environment and become helpless or depressed. Children need to feel safe and secure in their home and it is our responsibility to provide the best living environment for our children. (we say a big hooray to that!).

Quality time

Carve out time to give your child your undivided attention. That will do wonders for your child’s self-worth because it sends the message that you know he’s important and valuable. It will give you a chance to connect on a deeper level and will help you learn more about what your child is going through in his life. Everyone remembers family trips; it could be a road trip, camp out or even just building a fort in the living room. It’s the experiences felt that stick with you hence allowing you to grow (try it mamas, put your phone away, ignore those emails and spend a few dedicated and distraction-free minutes with your littles each day).

Encourage new experiences

Provide your child with a variety of experiences inside and outside. Meeting with friends and arranging play dates is a great way for your child to socialize and enhance self-esteem. Play areas and nurseries are great places where you and your child can encounter different personalities and learn about the world around them. (and play dates for kids can mean play dates for the mamas too! Trip to the beach anyone?)

So there you have it mamas, a little taster of what makes CreaKids so very special – a place after our own hearts.
