Top 5 Activities with Kids in Bali

TravelPost Category - TravelTravel - Post Category - Long HaulLong Haul

Keeping the whole family entertained when travelling can be a challenge, but with global concierge expert Quintessentially’s suggestions, overseas trips will be a breeze.

This month, we’re tackling Bali. There’s certainly no shortage of kid friendly activities on this tropical island and here’s our pick of the top 5 things to do.

Bali Safari and Marine Park

The best part of the Bali Safari and Marine Park is, of course, the safari. Bringing the African plains to the tropics, ride in the specially-modified vehicle and view zebras, hippos, wildebeest and rhinoceros wandering freely around the giant enclosure which mimics Indian, African and Asian habitats. The park is also home to white tigers, antelopes, leopards, Komodo dragons and when all the adventuring gets too much, there are elephants, ponies and camels to ride (children must be accompanied by adults), shows to be seen and lunch to be had – inside the lion’s enclosure! There’s a fun zone with rides and water flumes and boats too. Set aside a whole day for this experience.

Waterbom Bali

Located in the touristy area of Kuta, this gigantic water park is ideal for older kids, teens and adrenaline junkies. With more than 17 waterslides and attractions including the insane Climax, which exposes you to forces equivalent to 2.5G, a spinning superbowl (which is a bit like being flushed down a toilet) and an 8-story ‘Smashdown’ speed drop …phew! But for those who like to take things more slowly, there’s a lazy river, kiddy water park complete with water cannons and jets, private pool and spa for grownups.

Bali Bird Park

Home to almost 1,000 different birds and 250 species, Bali Bird Park brings beautiful, strange and rare birds from Indonesia, South America and beyond to the island. Naturalistic enclosures and walk-through aviaries house parrots, pelicans, cranes, macaws and the endangered Balinese starling. There are birds of paradise from Papua New Guinea, cassowaries, owls and toucans – great fun and a beautiful, lush environment as well.

Bali Treetop Adventure Park

Kids aged four and above can explore the Bali Treetop Adventure Park – a network of platforms, circuits and challenges set high in the rainforest canopy. Out of 7 adventure circuits, 2 are suitable for kids 4-6 years old – the squirrel yellow circuit is designed for small children and features a fishing net bridge, monkey track and mini flying fox. Daring Mums and Dads might prefer the Adrenaline track, which requires jumps, strength and agility on a course set 20m above the ground…either way, it’s a guaranteed workout for the whole family.

Bali Dolphins

If there’s one thing on our bucket list, it’s to swim with dolphins. Well, we can cross that one off – Bali Dolphins provides that magical experience off the coast of Sanur. Three times a day, small groups experience 40 minutes in the pen with the dolphins for an up-close-and-personal experience. Kids aged 4 and above are welcome to take part – but tours are booked up to one month in advance, so make sure you get in early!
