Argentine Tango

Ay, carumba! Get in touch with your fiery side to inject a bit more passion into your life at Latin Soul Dubai. Argentine tango’s the name of the game and as the saying goes, it takes two to tango and this beautiful, sensual dance form is one that’s always a hit for couples. So break out those heels and your boldest skirt for a way to burn off the calories while reconnecting with your loved one. Baby Boogie

You’re never too young to dance mama and nobody understands that better than Boogie Babies! With multiple locations all across Dubai, this fun music and movement class is aimed at tots up to the age of 3 and helps develop their confidence, motor skills and creativity through a series of awesome activities. Ballet

Keep the minis on their toes at Turning Pointe Dubai, one of the most popular dance schools in the desert city for quality dance instruction. Offering classes for kiddos aged 3 and up, it follows the Royal Academy of Dance syllabus and prepares tots for the classical ballet examinations, all while boosting their confidence and grace. Bollywood

There’s no denying that a good old Bollywood beat never fails to put me in a good mood and luckily, we’ve got a fab opportunity to learn to dance to it here in Dubers. Run by Nisha Shivnani, the Nisha Dance Centre is the perfect place for mamas and kiddos to pick up this high energy dance skill that’ll improve your fitness and flexibility. Offering both group and private lessons, they also do bellydancing, contemporary, jazz and hip hop classes.

Breakdancing

Run by international professional dancers, First IDS focuses on breakdancing, hip hop as well as a dash of street jazz for kids and adults of all ages. There’s a six month programme perfect for beginners to help break it down to basics and improve your flexibility and fitness. You’ll be able to bust a move to some pretty sick beats and a series of fantastic touring dancers do special workshops occasionally (Beyonce’s famous backup dancers Les Twins did one last year).

Freestyle

Not the type to buckle down with some choreography? MOVELAB has come up with an awesome out of the box Creative Movement concept that puts you at the centre of it all, allowing you and your kiddos the way you want to. At MOVELAB it’s not about getting the moves right, it’s about learning how to express yourself through dance while developing confidence, flexibility, coordination, improving posture and more. Perfect for kids over the age of 4 and adults, they run ten week courses for you to get stuck in.

Hula Hooping

I can see the raised eyebrows now, but after watching Chief Hoop Fairy Teeba of flowground jam out with her hoops, it’s definitely a dance form to us. (In fact, you can check out our Editor Kaya busting a move!) These 75 minute classes work almost every part of your body for a pretty intensive workout and you absolutely have to head over to their hoop jam sessions on Monday, where everyone freestyles and the experienced hoopers pull out their LED hula hoops.

Pole Dancing

It’s great to see that the stigma around pole dancing is slowly fading, especially as it’s a pretty kick ass workout that works your core and tones you up like nothing else. Pole Fit Dubai is probably your best bet for classes and you’ll be able to work on your flexibility and musicality while letting your hair down after running the kiddos round all day. Aside from pole classes, they also offer aerial hoops, yoga and flexibility classes as well.

Tap

This one’s for the really little tappers out there. Kidville offers Totally Tap classes for 3-5 year old where your bubs will be able to learn the basics of tap, exploring music and rhythm with the guidance of their experienced teachers. Oh, and did we mention that they do a little showcase just for parents on the last day of class?

Waltz

Easily the most iconic ballroom dance, you’ll learn to float around a dance floor with your partner at Arthur Murray Dubai. This dance school has oodles of experience with studios all over the world, with group and private classes to match your budget and comfort zone. Zouk-Lambada

Now to be honest, we hadn’t heard about Zouk until recently but this sexy Brazilian dance form is one we’re keen to try out. Similar to salsa but utilising more parts of your body, the best studio to learn it is easily Zouk Dubai – where Nayan de Andrew brought it over to Dubai along with his partner Samantha Ho. With programmes of six classes each at different skill levels, it’s a wallet-friendly way to add a little spice to your life.

Zumba

Looking to burn a few calories, mama? Dancing your way to a healthier lifestyle is what they’re all about at DanceFitME and their Zumba classes are definitely an awesome place to start.
