We’re Coveting Tree Houses by Andy

A few weeks ago I found a little gem while trawling the net and had to share. Just one look at the coolest tree houses made by Dubai-based dad Andy and I was hooked (and have been obsessing about getting one installed in the garden ever since). As a little girl I longed for my own little tree house where I could set up a secret ‘tree house club’, hide away with a book and plan big adventures with my siblings. Now with three small people of my own, I’d love to pass the dream on – and anything that unplugs the kids from the TV and fires up their imaginations or gets them playing outdoors gets a huge tick in our household.

Little houses, dens and actually other garden and home structures made from beautiful bits of gnarly wood – I dare you to visit his Facebook page and not want to get one made. Immediately.

Andy can add all sorts of ‘play’ options to his creations, from climbing nets to swings; whatever inspires your kiddos. And mamas and papas don’t have to be left out of the fun – there are plenty of options for the big kids in us (I’m envisaging my own little wooden hideaway and I know the hubby would like that ‘man cave’ to retreat to) and the structures don’t have to be in a garden or yard – your playroom, living room or tot’s bedroom will do! Whatever your space, he’ll make something fun to fill it, often building around existing trees and shrubs. Thoughtful, creative and totally unique, the playhouses are completely divine.

And it’s not just play houses: if you need fencing, furniture, a climbing frame for the kids, Andy is a whizz with the hammer and can do it all.

A play house takes approximately 5-8 days to build and costs upward of AED 4,500 depending on what activities you’d like to include or how ‘grand’ you’d like it. A small garden palace anyone? This is Dubai after all! I think it’s about time my childhood dream of a tree house was fulfilled. Oh, and I’ll let the kids have a play every now and then too!
