A few of our favourite things to do this weekend

Woohoo it’s finally the weekend! Leave the calendar to us because Sassy Mama loves everything that’s going on around town and here are our favourite picks…

Good news, mama! Dubai Marina Mall’s Dome Atrium is transformed into an interactive Play Zone featuring child-friendly fun and entertainment activities. If you’re looking for a place for the restless littles to spend the whole day, this is it! A paradise for kids, the Play Zone will feature an arts and crafts section, Play Area and even a Baby Soft Play GYM for the minis. Puppet shows, face painting and balloon artists will also be on hand to ensure the young ones are kept entertained during their time at the Play Zone. What’s more, from 11-13 August Chalkie The Chimp will be making his home in the Play Zone – don’t miss the chance to meet the talking monkey!

While kiddies make the most of their summer creating fun artwork at Summer Jam at thejamjar, mamas and papas can get creative and make our own masterpiece too! Join artist Anna Galea at thejamjar and discover her unique technique of painting fruits and still-life using watercolours. This 3-hour workshop will be held the same time as the morning session of Summer Jam, so bring the kiddies over and have some art fun this weekend!

film screening CRUEL SUMMER: Film Screening

If this summer heat is too much for you, how about an evening of short film screenings with the fam? You might think ice cream and summer beverages are the best bit but wait, it is actually the films that will give you the chills. The selected short films look at the dark side of summer, from loss to loneliness, heartbreak to horror – something different from the tropical vibe!

Dubai New To Dubai

Whether you’ve recently moved to Dubai or just looking to get a better hang of how things work around the desert city, this get-together event will give you useful tips on topics such as local etiquette, personal finance, tenancy rights, education and the social scene. While mamas and papas take advantage of open Q&A sessions and key-note speeches, kiddies will make new friends at the play areas and get creative at the arts and craft stations. Don’t miss out this great chance to meet other expats, network and get to know your new city better!

Barbie the AthleteBarbie the Athlete

Calls for all Barbie fans (and basically our childhood)! Head over to Dragon Mart 2 for the Barbie Athlete workshops where little princesses can become a medal winner, with fun, engaging Barbie games like gymnastics, cycling, track and Barbie swimming. What’s more, the kiddies can have their pics taken as a Barbie Athlete and the opportunity to meet with Barbie herself! Don’t forget to look out for the daily gymnastic performances and check out the fab Barbie Store featuring lots of Barbie accessories for our young ones….
