Welcome mamas to our new feature – The Weekender! It’s a short and snappy round up of all the best family-friendly weekend events, foodie promotions and special deals in Dubai. This weekend promises to be a scorcher, so check out events like the opening party of Spanish toy brand Imaginarium, pick up handicrafts at the ArtE Market, have a dance at Piknic Electronik Dubai and grab organics at Ripe Food and Crafts Market. We’ve also come up with a few ideas to keep you and the minis occupied, including hotel/beach access deals (because everything is fine if there are cold drinks and temperature controlled pools to enjoy) and meal deals. Imaginarium Launch Party

Looking for a great family-friendly night with the kiddos? Spanish toy brand Imaginarium is throwing a launch party for their new store in BOXPARK and you’ll be able to get in on all the fun! Let’s Get ArtE
One of the biggest markets in Dubai, ArtE Market is a great showcase of over 200 local artisans ranging from foodies to potters. It’s been running for quite a while now and if you’re looking to snag a few new things for yourself or the fam, we’d recommend checking it out.

When: 8 May, 12pm – 4pm

We’re up all night till the sun…
This weekend’s all about good vibes at the season finale of Piknic Electronik Dubai, the first family-friendly electronic music festival to hit the desert city. The talented musicians featuring this time round come from all over the world, including Miss P.M., J.C. Pinto, Aly B, Fairmont (live set) and Patrice Bäumel. And did we mention kiddos under 12 get to go in for free? There’s bouncy castles and fun to spare for the littles as well. This’ll be the last edition of Piknic Electronik before November, so better get in quick!

Veggie Tales
Ripe Market’s moving to a brand new location at Times Square every Saturday. Popular with families all over Dubai, you can pick up not just fantastic organic groceries from the Ripe Farm stall, but also great lifestyle and fashion finds by local artisans throughout the market. With food trucks and more hanging out, you’ll be able to grab a bite to eat and stay out of the blistering heat as well.

When: 9 May, 9am-2pm

Kiehl Out
Mamas, head to Mercato Mall this weekend where one of Sassy Mama’s fave skincare brands Kiehl’s have set up a consultation area and a cute little space for the kids to plant seeds and draw. (Oh, and don’t forget to grab yourself a few goodies as well!)

Grab the family and head to the Sheraton Jumeirah Beach Resort! On Saturdays, ladies (mamas!) only pay AED 110 on beach and pool AND receive a voucher for the same amount for food and drinks at Bliss Lounge or Azure Pool Bar. Okay, so the hubby pays full price (AED 220) but kids under the age of 5 are free and over 5 pay AED 120. No advanced booking required, but you have to arrive before 11am (easy peasy with mini people in tow right?! We’ll be there at the crack of dawn!)

Beach and a Brunch
So how about brunch AND pool/beach access included? Sofitel The Palm do a fab ocean brunch every Friday from 12.30pm that not only promises fresh seafood and poolside chic, but also a refreshing dip and a little R&R at their gorgeous pools and beach area. Yes please!
