The XDubai, X3 Junior Triathlon On 17 November Is Our MUST DO event this year

Yes so I know what you’re thinking – a triathlon? For kids? Mine can’t do it , they’re too little, it’s too hard, they don’t know how to swim/run/bike etc. Well actually, mamas, they can do it and this is why they should.

Junior Triathlon Kite Beach Dubai

First up, The XDubiai X3 Junior Triathlon is all about FUN (honestly!). Created for kids aged between 4 and 16 years, the whole point is to encourage your little people to have a go, regardless of how sporty they are. The course will be colourful, there’ll be plenty of encouragement along the way and you can even hold their hand (literally) if that will help their confidence.

Secondly – they do NOT have to be fantastic swimmers/cyclists/runners to take part. If your little 4 year old is happier wading through the 25 meter bit of (calm) water than swimming in it then that’s just fine – and you can do it with him/her too! Ditto with the cycling, there’s no need for uber snazzy bikes – whether they’re on balance bikes or they still have stabilizers attached, anything goes. Distances for swimming/cycling/running have all been adjusted according to age group. It’s all about realistic goals.

Every single registered kid will get a race pack complete with t-shirt, cap and other treats – and every single one will get a medal regardless of their timing. This is about trying their best and being rewarded for doing so (with a huge sense of achievement too!).

The event will take place on Kite Beach at 6am (yup, we’re all up early anyway so why not make the most of it?!) when the weather is perfect and the sea is flat calm. A race village for all participants and their families will offer entertainment and treats galore so there’s plenty to do after they’ve finished.

Finally, I can’t think of a better way to encourage my kids to step a little out of their comfort zone, to get some exercise and fresh air in one of Dubai’s most beautiful spots – and to do it all together as a family. See you there? I think so!

**WIN** 💦 🦞 We’re planning to make waves this summer in super cool Joseph & Alexander swim shorts, the swimwear brand which offers a gorgeous range of patterned shorts made from recycled plastic found floating in the ocean - we love!!! And there's a very cute mini and me collection too (that's Father's Day sorted this year). Want to win a pair? Simply like this post and tag someone you know who loves the ocean and wants to cut back on the use of plastic - too easy! One entry for each person you tag. A winner will be announced via instagram on March 18th, Global Recycling Day. GOOD LUCK! 💦 🦞
