Footloose and Fancy-free at Frioul

 A Mama Night Out in Dubai

Ladies night. Once it meant a bar crawl around town, a very late night and no kiddie wake-ups to deal with. Now? We still love a night out with the gals (the perfect chance to chat about the fam and engage the brain cells a little while getting glammed up) but we don’t want to fight our way to the bar for a drink or shout over pumping music. Yes, that may sound old and boring but a mid-week night out when there’s a school run waiting at the other end has got to be mama-friendly.

The Sassy team are all about a good old get together so a ladies night at Frioul complete with scrummy food, table service and a super cute setting was the perfect option for our latest soiree. Heels on, kids in bed and husbands in charge, we headed to the Madinat Jumeirah for our evening out and it was totally fabby fab fab.

Firstly – a visit to Frioul feels special at anytime (breakfast, brunch, lunch, dinner – we’ve tried them all). Named after an archipelago of French islands, this is Mediterranean chic at its best: crisp white table linen, parquet floors and twinkling fairy lights. Add a jazz band and meal/drinks deal on ladies night and it’s a winning combo. Every Tuesday, all ladies – and tables with ladies present – get a complimentary drink (including Frioul mimosa or a glass of red, white or a cocktail) plus a 25% discount off the menu.

And mamas, the menu is DEFINITELY something to get excited about. We ordered for the table and shared a whole variety of dishes – the truffle pizetta (a thin, crispy pizza base drizzled with truffle oil – we also had the truffle fries – there was no stopping us), delicious creamy Burrata , tuna tartare with avocado and homemade foie gras for starters and then roast lamb cutlets, crispy sea scallops and perfectly cooked steak for mains. As we chatted and ate, a jazz band played and the place filled up with all sorts – from groups to dates – the atmosphere at Frioul is always gorgeous.

Dinner over, we had a final drink and shared desserts outside under palm trees before heading home. Ladies night at Frioul had been the perfect mama night out. We’ll be back for more soon.
