Eid Getaways For The Fam!

TravelPost Category - TravelTravel - Post Category - Inspiration & TipsInspiration & Tips

Eid staycation DCG (1)Dreaming of an Eid break mamas? Here are a few of our top suggestions for fam friendly holidays in and around Dubai (ok we’ve snuck a Maldives option in too because we’re more than a little obsessed and are hoping hubby might one day get the hint). From a mountain retreat to a city break, manmade islands to turquoise lagoons – all you gotta do is choose!

A Dubai Staycation

The Jumeirah Zabeel Saray

DSC_1270Why travel out the city when the perfect Eid escape is just a drive away (plus it’s on an island so it feels like you’ve travelled out of town anyways). Book a grand deluxe room (with 2 queen sized beds) between 1 and 11 October 2014 at a special rate of AED 2,300 including breakfast and choice of lunch or dinner across five restaurants for 2 adults and kids under 12 paying 50%. Price also includes a traditional Turkish Hammam experience for two and access to all Talise Ottoman facilities – and while you and hubby get some much need R&R the kids can enjoy a whole heap of kiddie events from magic shows to aqua fun, camel rides to mini petting zoo at the fabulous Sinbads Kids Club.

Atlantis, The Palm

06Book into a 2 bedroom suite at this iconic Palm Jumeirah resort and enjoy a family adventure with a lost world theme – a little bit like staying in a watered down adventure park although you can’t help but love it and as for the minis – give them a chance to stay here and they’ll be promising to behave for years to come. With a huge range of activities including Shark Safari, snorkeling in The Ambassador Lagoon and Sting Ray Feeding there’s plenty of fun for all ages – and happy kids = happy mamas = happy papas – it’s a win/win! UAE residents also qualify for a resident rate at Dubai’s largest waterpark Aquaventure, complete with splashpark for the younger kids.

Book any room at the Best Available Rate Guaranteed and you’ll get a full buffet breakfast at Saffron or Kaleidoscope.

The Ritz Carlton, DIFC

photoYou might spend most of your time wishing hubby would leave the DIFC but The Ritz Carlton Eid Al Adha ‘Treat You’ package may just be enticing enough for you to want to spend a night there yourself. Be a tourist for the day and visit the Dubai Mall and Burj Khalifa just a stones throw away (because let’s face it, they may be on your doorstep but it’s always more exciting if you’ve got a hotel room to go back to). The hotel’s youngest guests will have access to The Ritz-Carlton’s Ritz Kids program based on the environment and including fun activities such as ‘Trash Bash’ (recycling combined with arts & crafts) and ‘Be a Little Gardener’, where the minis get to plant flowers and herbs.

The ‘Treat You’ package is available throughout Eid Al Adha and until December 31, 2014. A Club Rooom costs AED 1,775 per night (stay 3 pay 2).

A Little Further Away…

Yas Viceroy Abu Dhabi

ferrai world yasGot little speed demons on your hands? Treat them to a day at Ferrari World Abu Dhabi and a night at the Yas Viceroy (right on the F1 track) – or if it’s waterparks you’re after then swap cars for slides and spend a day splashing around at Yas Waterworld. A one night family friendly ‘splash or speed’ package stay includes 2 tickets to Yas Waterworld or Ferarri World Abu Dhabi (complimentary entrance for children under 12) and breakfast for 2 adults and 2 minis.

Deluxe Rooms start at AED 965 per night and Deluxe Suites from AED 1315 per night – but here’s the good part – GCC residents qualify for a 15% discount (just make sure you have proof mamas!)

Alila Jabal Akhdar, Oman

press-jabal-akhdar-1 Mamas if the heat has got to you and it’s cooler climes you’re after (without sitting on a plane for hours – we all know that’s no fun with the minis) then the Alilia Jabal Akhdar, perched over 2,000m above sea level in the Hajar mountains is just the ticket. Serene, chic, utterly stunning it may sound like it’s not very kid friendly but the tots will love not feeling hot and bothered for a change – and the infinity pool overlooking nothing but spectacular views of the gorge will fascinate and delight. Plus all that mountain air should guarantee plenty of sleep (or is that just wishful thinking).

Book any room at the Best Available Rate and get breakfast included.

Mamas ultimate Eid break

Cheval Blanc Randheli – The Maldives

maldivesI’ve always been obsessed with going to The Maldives (last Christmas I convinced myself that the envelope under the tree contained tickets to my dream destination – but sadly not). And I’ve now discovered the Cheval Blanc Randheli, a family friendly haven just under 5 hours flight from Dubers that would be perfect for my little family (husband I hope you are reading this). With a cool little kids club for the 3 – 12 year olds (complete with dedicated infant area) that promises everything from arts & crafts to nature experiences, sports, games, extensive outdoor areas and a pool – all supervised by an expert team of ‘Ambassadeurs’, parents can soak up the Maldivian sunshine on a powder white beach safe in the knowledge that the littles are having a ball. Sounds heavenly right? Teens can opt to go diving, snorkeling, take special teen yoga classes and indulge in spa treatments before chilling in a designated lounge area complete with games, gadgets (and a whole lot of hormones!) .

Just when you thought it couldn’t get much better – the resort also tailor makes family adventures from sandbank escapes (complete with shaded tent and all the other stuff necessary to keep kids beach safe and happy), beach barbecues that encourage little chefs to get stuck in, sand sculpting and family mini olympic games – perfect for all those competitive dads.

The two bedrooms Garden Villa’s are perfect for families. I have my eye on one mamas – I can but dream – and maybe Santa will be kind to me this year!
