Earrings are BIG NEWS mamas – literally. It’s all about making a statement this season.
Never has it been more acceptable in today’s fashionable society to emulate ‘serial-massive-chandelier-earring-wearer’ – Pat Butcher of Eastenders fame…than now! (non British mamas you may not know who on earth she is – basically a character in a tv soap – see pic below!). In the last two years, large statement earrings have made a huge (pardon the pun!) comeback on the trendy fashion scene and have surprisingly surpassed many other accessories as ‘the’ statement piece of the season. 2016/2017 saw large tassel earrings become the ‘earring of choice’ for many fashionistas with designers as well as high street retailers jumping onto the bandwagon and bringing out their own versions of this trend-fuelled accessory. 2018 has already seen the ‘beaded’ sister of the tassel earring come to the forefront and now up there as the main accessory of the SS18. Think ‘Brazilian carnival meets Aztec and tropical motifs’ and you have this earring trend sussed quicker than you can say ‘Pat Butcher Eat Your Heart Out’.
I’ve recently fallen prey to the many fabulous statement earrings gracing our stores and online ‘just-take-my-credit-card-already’ sites and have currently quite the collection going on (“I have too many pairs of earrings” said no woman EVER!!). So, I’ve decided to share with you, my favourite earrings around at the moment and ones which I think will set the bar in terms of style and trend-factor for this upcoming season and beyond.
I have to start with one of our fav’s here at Sassy Mama – Zara. Zara are ‘killing it’ right now with their amazing SS18 accessory collection (have you seen their turban headbands?!) and I may have bought all of the following…just so you know 😉
I’m just dying to style these up with a white summer dress, basket bag and flat tan sandals whilst sipping a cocktail of course!

The colours and the style just SCREAM summer! I haven’t bought these yet but I very much plan to!
I’m just gonna start by saying – EVERYONE NEEDS THESE! Not only will you get wear out of these for summer, buy they will also work for Autumn when combined with those warm Autumnal tones.

I’m getting so much wear out of these since I bought them (you even have the pleasure of seeing my ears here instead of the Zara model ha, ha!!) and finding they are going with almost everything I own. Again – another fab transitional pair of earrings! Thank you Zara!
There’s just something I love about these, both elegant and funky and can be dressed up or down. Turquoise blue is such a fab neutral colour for summer also and suits almost every shade.

I have the pink and red version of these (see top pic) but the black pair is an investment piece, as they will unlikely date because of the colour and will look amazing all year round.
Moving on a bit from Zara, these ASOS beauties have statement written all over them. Just keep your outfit simple and let your ears do all the talking!
Who doesn’t love tortoiseshell? Guaranteed to go with everything and has this ‘knack’ of looking expensive! #winning
I could go on and on (but I won’t), with the array of statement earring choice in the stores right now but… I’m gonna stop here and leave you with some very wise words from Jennifer Lopez…
