Some of the best theatre shows coming up for kids…
MAMAS, it’s time to get cultural. Going to the theatre is not just for budding actors and actresses – in our experience most kiddos love it (because it’s just like watching a live action iPad but with none of the screen time guilt for parents!). Here’s our pick of the top five sell-out shows coming to the region.

Who doesn’t worship at the feet of Julia Donaldson when it comes to bedtime stories – and this heartwarming tale of the plucky ladybird is one of our favourites. Expect live music, a lot of animal sounds and that all-important audience participation as the tale of Hefty Hugh, Lanky Len and their dastardly plan to steal the farmer’s prize cow unfolds at Dubai Arts and Community Theatre (DUCTAC).
When: Friday 9th March, 11am and 2.30pm.

Another DUCTAC production, this magical fairytale runs all the way through the Easter holidays. With the uber popular team who produced Christmas’ Snow White and the Seven Dwarves travelling all the way from the UK, follow the tale of one of Disney’s favourite princesses and her hair-raising attempts to escape from a very tall tower and a very wicked witch.
When: Twice daily performances, Thursday 29th March – Friday 6th April.

Dig out your hats and gloves – Disney on Ice is coming to Dubai, and you don’t want to miss it. Watch little faces light up with excitement as they journey deep into Ariel’s underwater kingdom, cross the pridelands with Simba and the Lion King gang and, of course, stop by Arendelle with Elsa, Anna and Olaf. Sno good you don’t want to miss it!
When: Wednesday 4th April – Saturday 7th April at Dubai World Trade Centre

Sticking with the arctic theme (hey mamas, can you blame us – it’s getting hot!), Oliver Jeffers’ classic tale about a penguin teaching a little boy the true meaning of home is showing at the Madinat Theatre. Using live music and puppetry, this heart-warming tale has a happy ending that won’t leave a dry eye in the house.
When: Friday 20th April – Saturday 21st April

You’ve got to get to Abu Dhabi for this one, but we promise the little ones won’t even complain about the car ride (probably!) when you tell them you’re off to see Paw Patrol Live! The show, held twice daily on Yas Island, tells the story of the Great Race between Adventure Bay’s Major Goodway and Foggy Bottom’s Mayor Humdinger and what happens when Chase and the gang intervene after Major Goodway is nowhere to be found. Canine capers abound!
