Family Friendly Fun & Events During Eid & In June
Welcome to June, mamas! Well actually we’re almost halfway through the month, about to celebrate Eid Al Fitr (with three days off school for the kiddos!) and summer holidays only three weeks away (gulp!). For me, this time is about spending time with friends who we won’t see over the school hols, about keeping as cool as possible when temperatures outside are raging and about keeping the kids busy without spending an absolute fortune! And luckily there are lots of ways to do it all and have a blast before the bell rings at the end of term. From free events to super sassy discounts, here are a few of the things I’m doing and loving in June. Oh and Eid Mubarak, mamas!
Orbi Dubai is an indoor attraction designed to bring kids closer to nature (read our review to learn all about what’s on offer). And this month, not only will your little ones be able to get up close and personal to plenty of virtual creatures but also to real-life birds as part of a new Wild Flight Falconry show which allows you to interact with and learn with the guidance of bird experts plus enjoy a live flight demonstration.

Need another reason to head to Dragon Mart, mamas? Yup those gorgeous home accessories and bargain buys are great but how about keeping the kiddos entertained at the same time?! Well this summer, your ‘My Little Pony’ fans can meet Sparkle, Pinkie pie, Applejack and gang at a live show – starting with an Eid parade on June 14 and carrying on until the end of the month – with plenty of photo opps and ‘meet & greet’ sessions too.
Date: 14 – 24 June
Timings: Parade (Eid only), 4pm
Live shows at 5pm, 6pm and 7:45pm
We’re making the most of a few days off school for Eid and heading to Atlantis for a special family staycation. Want to do the same? Or looking for other deals and hotel breaks for the fam? Check out our roundup of some of the fabulous Eid and summer staycation offers out there at the moment and grab the chance to chill out in air-conditioned luxury!
From stilt-walking ballerinas to free styling footballers – the Malls in Dubai will be filled with all kinds of colorful entertainment over the Eid break (and it’s all free to watch too!). We’re looking forward to ‘wearable art’ at The Outlet Village, a giant walkable piano in City Centre Deira and fireworks at Dubai Festival City (on Friday 15). Every mall will be featuring something fun so make sure to check out their websites and take the fam along to watch/shop/eat and more.
Date: 14 – 17 June

Take the kids on an adventure with the boy who never grew up at Ibn Battuta Mall (yup, another freebie Summer Surprises event – yippeee!). Taking place at The China Court stage at Ibn Battuta Mall, visit Neverland in the company of Peter, Tinkerbell and friends from the first day of Eid Al Fitr through to 23 June, and get your little gang rooting for good to win over evil as they watch Peter defeat Captain Hook and his goofy pirates.
Date: 14 – 23 June, 2018
Who doesn’t love a bargain? For all you discount divas, there are loads of ways to shop smart in Dubai – the next being Dubai Summer Surprises, 22 June – 4 August, (stick it in your diaries mamas!). Going on a good old spree doesn’t need to cause a credit card (and husband) meltdown because this annual sale will see prices slashed by up to 90% on the opening day and up to 75% on every subsequent day plus the chance to grab loads of offers, win prizes and generally lose the guilt about shopping – hooray!

The Disney/Pixar sequel to the smash 2004 hit The Incredibles has finally arrived! We got a sneak peek last week and absolutely LOVED IT! If you didn’t watch the original, basically this animation is about married superheroes Mr. Incredible and Elastigirl who are forced to assume mundane lives as Bob and Helen Parr after all super-powered activities have been banned by the government. While Mr. Incredible loves his wife and kids, he longs to return to a life of adventure, and he gets a chance when summoned to an island to battle an out-of-control robot. Soon, Mr. Incredible is in trouble, and it’s up to his family to save him. Sound fun? It is! And the sequel is equally brilliant. I especially love daughter Violet Parr (perhaps because of my own little Violet), a super cool girl who has her very own super powers – and her two brothers (again, much like my boys!), shapeshifting Jack Jack and ultra quick Dash.
Release date: June 15, 2018
