Family Friendly Fun & Events During Eid & In June
Welcome to June, mamas! Well actually we’re almost halfway through the month, about to celebrate Eid Al Fitr (with three days off school for the kiddos!) and summer holidays only three weeks away (gulp!). For me, this time is about spending time with friends who we won’t see over the school hols, about keeping as cool as possible when temperatures outside are raging and about keeping the kids busy without spending an absolute fortune! And luckily there are lots of ways to do it all and have a blast before the bell rings at the end of term. From free events to super sassy discounts, here are a few of the things I’m doing and loving in June. Oh and Eid Mubarak, mamas!
Orbi Dubai is an indoor attraction designed to bring kids closer to nature (read our review to learn all about what’s on offer). And this month, not only will your little ones be able to get up close and personal to plenty of virtual creatures but also to real-life birds as part of a new Wild Flight Falconry show which allows you to interact with and learn with the guidance of bird experts plus enjoy a live flight demonstration.

We’re looking forward to ‘wearable art’ at The Outlet Village, a giant walkable piano in City Centre Deira and fireworks at Dubai Festival City (on Friday 15). Taking place at The China Court stage at Ibn Battuta Mall, visit Neverland in the company of Peter, Tinkerbell and friends from the first day of Eid Al Fitr through to 23 June, and get your little gang rooting for good to win over evil as they watch Peter defeat Captain Hook and his goofy pirates.

The Disney/Pixar sequel to the smash 2004 hit The Incredibles has finally arrived! We got a sneak peek last week and absolutely LOVED IT! If you didn’t watch the original, basically this animation is about married superheroes Mr. Incredible and Elastigirl who are forced to assume mundane lives as Bob and Helen Parr after all super-powered activities have been banned by the government. While Mr. Incredible loves his wife and kids, he longs to return to a life of adventure, and he gets a chance when summoned to an island to battle an out-of-control robot. Soon, Mr. Incredible is in trouble, and it’s up to his family to save him. Sound fun? It is! And the sequel is equally brilliant. I especially love daughter Violet Parr (perhaps because of my own little Violet), a super cool girl who has her very own super powers – and her two brothers (again, much like my boys!), shapeshifting Jack Jack and ultra quick Dash.
