This is probably going to be a very dangerous series of blog posts I have planned for the next while.
I have decided to go online and source through mine and your favourite high street stores and pick through some of my fav looks and pieces that are new that particular week.
I’ve thought to myself – “great idea Irene, my dedicated readers are going to love this”! Well, it’s all fun and games till I get the credit card statement at the end of the month because I can’t help myself from adding yet another item into my online shopping basket coz you know – ‘research’ and all that! So here it goes, my bank balance is not gonna like this and it’s probably gonna be the detriment of my marriage when my husband see’s all those online deliveries coming through the door but you know at the end of the day, we’re all helping the economy (well, that’s what I keep telling myself – maybe I should find a better excuse next time!).
First up: probably our favourite high street retailer and the cause of many financial arguments, financial stress and debt, ZARA.
What can I say ZARA, you have me all wrapped around your fabulous Spanish, ‘straight-off-the-catwalk’ inspired looks and affordable little finger. You can do no wrong and we all can’t wait till we get to Europe for our summer holidays (in particular Spain) so we can basically do a supermarket sweep in your store coz you are so bloody cheap there!
But for now, here’s my top 5 picks of what I’m loving in Zara right now (these may or may not be currently sitting in my online shopping basket #sorrynotsorry)
I’m a sucker for stripes – I seem to gravitate towards them the whole time like a magpie to something shiny and this ticks all the boxes for me.

Red and white print: √
Sleeve and shoulder action: √
Accentuated waist detail: √
This dress is really self-explanatory, there are no other words only “I need it”.

Is this not the perfect jacket for summer or is it not? I love the cut-out detail on the shoulders and seen as I’ll be spending my summer in Ireland, I thought this will look so nice as a cover-up (because let’s face it, summer or no summer, you always have to wear a jacket in Ireland) and will be equally as stylish back in Dubai – in particular during the winter time here. The pearl buttons with gold hardware are literally giving me life and I’m also loving this nude-pink colour right now as it flatters almost all skin tones and is neutral enough to go with most items in my wardrobe.

I’ve been after a new floral midi-skirt for a while now and I’m just obsessed with the colours in this particular one. Midi-skirts are my ‘go-to’ uniform these days in terms of style as I love the length and love teaming them with statement t-shirts and runners/sneakers. This one would look equally as nice paired with a denim shirt and funky pointy-toe heels as a glam option or else little ankle boots for a more daytime look.

You see, I told you I have a problem with stripes! How cute are these though? I can just imagine wearing them with a crisp white cotton loose dress for summer and a Raffia bag (see below). My style these days has certainly shifted to a more comfortable look (I blame my age) with flat shoes now being my ‘shoe of choice’. Mules are just so easy to wear and look so damn stylish, it’s hard to say no to them. I love how they are the ‘IT’ shoe of the summer – in other words, my feet are very much pleased with it overall.

What is it about summer? You just want to parade around the place eating ice-cream whilst holding some sort of a straw/Raffia/Mini-picnic-basket style bag and make daisy-chains! (Okay, maybe that’s what I want to do). But to me, this type of bag screams summer and holidays plus it just goes with everything. It’s the perfect bag to bring on your holidays as you can wear it as a cross-body whilst roaming around pretty streets, beaches, cities, and markets wherever you are and then acts as a fab bag for a night on the town with the little mini-handle. I reckon this one is a must-buy.

So, there you have it, my first little round-up of what I’m loving in Zara at the moment. If there is any other particular retailer you would like me to feature and scope through their online website, let me know! Was I thinking perhaps H&M next?
Hope you enjoyed this and don’t come running to me when you’re broke at the end of the month!
