Becoming a mama is one of life’s greatest gifts, and we love celebrating all the Sassy mamas-to-be and their beautiful bumps! This month we met entrepreneur, model and blogger, Farhana Bodi whose Woman of the World blog features successful and talented women from all walks of life and supports women’s empowerment – hooray! Farhana has many strings to her bow, regularly hosting events for brand launches, consulting in PR and business development plus tapping into her first career as a model and beauty consultant. We got to chat to her about her favourite pregnancy moments, cravings and how she’s staying healthy and happy for the whole 9 months!
What was your reaction when you first found out you were pregnant with your first child?
I couldn’t believe it! As it was not planned, it was a bit of a shock! Even though I was nervous, it grew on me and I’m very happy and grateful.
What has been your funniest memory over the nine months?
The moments mostly come from my husband, and the names he chooses. He offers names like Sir, Lord and Hercules… I said no!
Any great books and resources that you turn to for baby preparation?
Baby Centre is great! I have signed up to it, so I receive weekly updates and emails which I am enjoying reading.
What was the easiest trimester and which one proved most difficult?
The second has been very good so far – I feel so energetic! The first was a bit tough though and I found it difficult to leave the house. Was just in bed literally all day. I pray that the third will be good to me!
Do you follow a fitness programme while pregnant?
I just walk a lot, drink a lot of water and make sure that I eat a lot of fruits.
Any fashion tips and tricks for maternity dressing?
Wear the cape dress it’s in this season and compliments your bump but mostly wear what you are comfortable in and try to avoid heels. I usually only wear heels to events, and for short amounts of time – plus, I always carry my flats along!
What have you struggled with most since being pregnant?
My pregnancy has been great (touch wood)! Just a few nauseous moments, thats all! But I struggle with controlling my food intake. Lets just say I eat a lot! Also, due to my hectic lifestyle there are times where I have to attend three events a day so it does get tiresome! Mainly, it’s just the lifestyle change that I’m still getting a hold off.
What kind of delivery are you hoping for?
Normal and easy!
Name a mama you find inspiring and why?
My mother, she raised 6 of us kids and is she is still so fit.
What are your thoughts about finding out the sex in advance?
It makes it easier to plan the room decor and the clothes. My husband and I are very happy with whatever the sex of the baby.
Any local businesses that make your pregnancy journey easier?
Yes, we go to a clinic called Panache and it’s amazing! The doctor is lovely and friendly.
Did you or do you have any weird and wonderful cravings?
I crave a lot of spicy Food and sour pops!
Where will you be having your baby and who is your OBGYN?
The baby will be born in the UAE, though I am still in the process of deciding which hospital.
