The Bump: Muroj Saadi

Fashion and beauty stylist Muroj Saadi makes pregnancy and motherhood look effortlessly chic and totally under control (what IS her secret!?). We caught up with Muroj just after the birth of her gorgeous little baby boy Kayan to capture her beautiful bump and meet big brother Kenzi plus chat about everything from a craving for ice-cubes to her gender-reveal party!

What was your reaction when you first found out you were pregnant?
I was so excited!

Your funniest memory over the nine months?
Funniest moments were when I met up with my friends! The way they made me feel and how excited they were about the baby.

Any great books and resources that you turn to for baby preparation?
I used the BabyCenter app. I loved everything about it.

What was the easiest trimester and which one proved most difficult?
The second trimester was the easiest. I felt very light, full of energy and in a great mood.

Do you follow a fitness programme while pregnant?
I tried to control as much as I can. The first thing I did was to cut down on junk food and soft drinks.

Any fashion tips and tricks for maternity dressing?
Wear what makes you happy and comfortable.

What have you struggled with most since being pregnant?
Nothing major, only that I had to stop travelling in the last trimester.

How was the birth of your children?
I was hoping for a natural birth but half way during the birth my doctor decided to go for a C – Section since the process was very slow. I had an emergency C – Section with my first son after 16 hours of labour due to fetal distress.

What are your thoughts about finding out the sex in advance?
It was so much fun to find out the gender of the baby this time. I had a gender reveal party. With my first pregnancy, my husband and I decided we didn’t want to know the sex of the baby. We kept it a surprise until the birth.

My first son, Kenzi, was very excited when he found out that he was getting a little brother and he was very emotional when he met him for the first time.

Did it take you some time getting pregnant or were you one of those mamas who got lucky on the first try?
We were trying for around 3 months.

Did you or do you have any weird and wonderful cravings?
No, I just wanted to have ice cubes in the first trimester!

Where did you have your baby and who is your OBGYN?
I had my baby at Dr. Sulaiman Al Habib Hospital with Dr. Razan Al Kayali.
