You may have seen the news cycle’s been pounding the good news down our throats, but we couldn’t resist chipping in ourselves! The stork visited Kate Middleton last Sunday and dropped off a little delivery at 8.34am on May 2 – a gorgeous royal baby girl named Charlotte Elizabeth Diana weighing 8 pounds and 3 ounces. The morning after giving birth at St. Mary’s Hospital, Kate, her royal hubby Prince William and George made a beaming appearance on the front steps with their new addition to the family swathed in white above. Unlike the media frenzy following George’s birth, the family chose not to talk to the press and rather to spend precious time recuperating with their new daughter. (And quite right too!)

The royal baby and her family are currently all back home at Kensington Palace, where their friends and family have been visiting including Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall. Unfortunately her charming redheaded uncle Prince Harry hasn’t had a chance to see her yet as he’s currently in Australia, however he did say in a Kensington Palace statement, “She’s absolutely beautiful. I can’t wait to meet her.”

Messages of congratulations have been pouring in from all around the world, from President Obama to the Twittersphere where #royalbaby has inevitably been trending. In London, people have been celebrating as royal gun salutes fill the air and an official declaration has been placed outside Buckingham Palace for everyone to see.

As the first princess born into the monarchy in 25 years, the family wasn’t exactly being very forthcoming with her name initially which had bookies over at British legal betting services William Hill and Ladbrokes blowing up with bets on her name. Funnily enough, they did get it right with Charlotte being one of the leading names – however we do love that the happy couple added in Diana after the Prince’s late mother. Congrats, William and Kate!
