When you are out and about outdoors it is virtually impossible to avoid that sweaty hair look – nice! This is where dry shampoo becomes your saviour to instantly absorb any oil and freshen up your look in a few sprays. Work into the roots for an added dose of volume too and embrace that tousled wavy look – easy peasy!

Whether the loyal messy bun is your go-to or you prefer a high ponytail to keep your hair out of your face, tight hair bobbles can cause thinning..and we certainly don’t need any of that! Invest in a pack of Hershesons hair ties that are super gentle and won’t pull at your hair. They’re great for little one’s hair too, remember sharing’s caring 😉

A monthly treatment is almost a necessity over a luxury mamas. Many salons offer a range of hair treatments that can be added on to your blow dry. We love the Davines treatments at SWISH by Immaclife in Abu Dhabi and Be Bar in Dubai that are tailored to your individual hair needs. Keratin is also a popular option to tame frizz and keep your locks soft and smooth all summer long, it’s quite an investment but definitely worth it if you are fighting the dreaded frizz.

Once a week keep your hair fully moisturised with a deep conditioning hair mask that will rehydrate and strengthen the hair. If you visit the beach or pool at the weekend, we suggest a Saturday evening ritual of ‘bath time and mask time’ once the littles are all tucked up. Towel dry the hair first to remove any excess water and leave on for as long as possible before rinsing.

Don’t forget to wear a hat or thick headband when you’re out and about to give your hair a little SPF of its own, especially if you have colour treated hair that can tend to go straw like when exposed to too much sun. Plaits and braids are also a great way to keep your hair up and if you do this whilst the hair is damp, you will be left with natural beachy waves that will take you through to the evening with ease – date night mamas?

Set aside time to wash your hair every other day with a decent quality shampoo and conditioner that works for your hair type – it really does reduce split ends, injects moisture back into your locks and helps to keep your hair looking clean and shiny – we love!

In the summer it’s advisable to reduce heat styling as much as possible (this is where those plaits and braids come in mamas!). If however you simply cannot be without your dryer, straighteners or tongs to style up your locks, make sure you ALWAYS use a heat protection spray or cream before styling to minimise any damage.
