A fabulous indoor fun activity that combines mamas, kids and cupcakes – perfect!
A delightfully warm welcome that was swiftly followed by a hot and delicious cappuccino meant that I knew that my girls and I were in for some serious (and delicious) indoor fun when we visited Jones the Grocer on Sheikh Zayed Road for a cupcake making and decorating master class. While I sipped on my well-received brew, my two lovely monkeys rolled up their sleeves, donned the supplied aprons and set upon their cupcake mixtures with gumption.
Two chefs were on hand to guide and direct the kids with patience and a deft hand, helping them to fill their baking trays with the delicious mixture. A royal mess was made (while I smugly considered how glad I was that this was not my kitchen) and swiftly cleared as the cupcakes were taken away to bake. In the meantime, the kiddies practiced their whisking skills to create icing in the flavour of their choice. Chocolate, raspberry, and vanilla were on offer (my youngest decided on all 3). Within a few short minutes, they were merrily decorating their cupcakes with sprinkles, stars and hundreds and thousands.
From start to finish they had baked and decorated their own cakes in less than an hour!
This Sassy Mama enjoyed a delightful afternoon that would otherwise have been full of “I’m bored” and “she took my princess doll” and the monkeys got to flex their creative muscles, proudly walking away with 6 cupcakes each!
There are lots of classes and a tasting session hosted by Jones The Grocer, for kiddos, mamas and papas and they are all about fun and food. From culinary master classes to vino pairing sessions, you can book through their Facebook page in venues across the Emirates.
