A Mini Guide To What To Do In Dubai This March!
It’s March! How on earth?! Time flies when you’re having fun – or when you’re a mama with fifty billion things on the to-do list! But that’s ok because Mother’s Day is in March so we’ll be celebrated and adored and thanked for it all (right?!). March also marks the beginning of Spring, or in our case, the start of some serious heat – and the last school break before summer (eek!). To help you make the most of the month, I’ve put together a little roundup of some of the things I’m doing and loving – from new cafes to beautiful hotels (hellooo staycation!) and much more.
Want to add a little adrenalin to your lives, mamas? The new ‘Jebel Jais Flight’ zipline is the longest in the world (more than 28 football pitches through the mountains of Jebel Jais) and is just another reason to visit Ras Al Khaimah (with a stay at the Waldorf Astoria afterwards perhaps? They’re offering some fantastic resident deals at the moment!). Definitely one for the bucket list, you’ll be able to get some incredible pics (there’s a transparent floor on a suspended platform 80- metres above the ground), GoPro footage of your ‘flight’, a certificate and a birds eye view of some of the UAE’s most incredible scenery too.
To book, visit www.jebeljais.ae
There’s nothing like enjoying a bite and a drink alfresco so make the most of it while you can and head to ‘The Garden’, a pop-up concept at Le Royal Meridien Hotel which offers a lush garden environment in which to enjoy cocktails inspired by the surrounding flora and fauna, created by an expert mixologist and served with a huge side of green gorgeousness! And on Tuesdays a ‘Potting Shed’ theme will see terracotta pots filled with a variety of cheeses, cold-cuts, fresh bread and condiments served up to accompany your drinks (date night with a difference? I think so!).
Chill out to the beats of live jazz amongst olive trees, fruit trees and heaps of beautiful plants – but hurry because The Garden will only be open for three nights a week (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday) from 6pm – 11pm until April 2018.

If trying to get the other half interested in a date night is proving difficult then this option might just seal the deal. The Westin Hotel, Al Habtoor City, has opened a new retro style venue ’44’ (yes, it’s on the 44th floor so comes with some pretty awesome views) which is home to a bowling alley, pool tables, pin ball machines and huge amounts of fun. And if you’re after a little drink or two while you get stuck into some seriously competitive sport then you’re in luck as ’44’ is licensed too!

If you love La Mer, Box Park and The Beach at JBR then there’s a whole new area to explore with your fam, mamas! The Yard at Al Khawaneej is an eclectic lifestyle destination promising shops, restaurants and that touch of quirky cool that makes its sister sites so gorgeous (think super cute wall art, beautiful grassy areas and really great design touches – the stuff of a photographers dreams!). As well as a ‘Last Exit D89’ with all the familiar food trucks plus loads of other eateries, a farmers market and regular events you’ll also find Dubai’s first ‘promise bridge’ here (an ode to the original ‘Ponts des Arts’ bridge in Paris where you can make a padlocked pledge to your loved one by attaching your own lock to the railings). Fun for the whole fam, go the whole yard and check it out, mamas! ir loved ones by attaching padlocks to the bridge, usually with their initials on them.
For any British mamas out there, you’ll know what I mean by ‘a pret sandwich’ (just those two words get my tummy a-rumbling). With a ‘pret-a-manger’ cafe on almost every high street in the UK, this chain is a firm favourite among many mamas looking for a delicious cup of (organic) coffee and a really good, healthy and flavour-packed fast-food option whether you’re after lunch on the run or you’re treating the kids to a quick bite while shopping. Well hooray for us, Pret-A-Manger is now here on the ground floor of Dubai Mall, serving up their signature wraps, soups, salads, sandwiches, baguettes and loads more too – all prepared in their kitchen daily with the bestest, most yummiest ingredients, yippeee! See you there (and fight you for the avocado wrap….).
What could be better than taking the kids to pick their own fruit and veg, to teach them about how our food is grown and get a huge dose of Mother Nature and the great outdoors while you’re at it?! One of my absolute favourite organic farms in the UAE, Greenheart Organic Farms, is opening its doors to the public on March 17th and will be chatting through everything from soil building to seed saving and growing in balance with nature and without chemicals. To sign up, head over to their super cute farm shop just off Umm Suqeim Street (near Miracle Garden).

For fruit and veg picking, Emirates Bio Farm offers everything from hourly tours and farm walks including harvesting with the kids and a tent over looking the farm and open desert scenery, a chill out spot inside a greenhouse that hosts a cafe and a farm shop, pallet painting workshop for kids and adults and a little petting zoo with their resident goats too.

The benefits of bone broth have been proven (that chicken soup your grandma used to make you to fight off colds – it really does work, mamas!) but if you’re trying to stay off the animal products or you want to go the extra step and look after your digestion as well as your immunity then The Clean Living Company have now launched a gut-repairing vegan broth with kombu that’s great for the whole fam. The vegan broth not only helps you absorb essential nutrients but also provides antibacterial, antioxidant and anti-inflammatory health benefits and contains all the ‘miracle’ herbs and minerals including ginger, turmeric, thyme and Himalayan rock salt to make sure that you and the kids are ready to fight off some of those horrid viruses doing the rounds! Healthy little bellies lead to happy minds, happy moods and plenty of focus for school too!
Want a little break from it all without the crazy cost (or hassle) of flights, mamas? Fairmont Fujairah Beach Resort is a gorgeous luxury resort situated along the coastal region of Dibba, Fujairah with just 180 guest rooms and suites and surrounded by panoramic views of the Gulf of Oman and a stunning mountainous landscape. And if relaxing with a book by the pool isn’t enough then a huge range of activities for all ages await – from water sports at the dive centre to child-friendly entertainment at the kids’ club and spa treatments too. Heavenly.
