Sassy Mama gets manicured (in her own lounge!) with iSpa’s home service!

Being a mama shouldn’t mean skipping on our beauty routines! However, having a little one can often mean trips to the salon become more difficult to schedule. That being said, I was delighted to try out a new home service from iSpa. The salon is located in Jumeirah Lakes Towers, but has recently started a home service; adopting a philosophy of glamour with minimum fuss. Trained beauty therapists travel to your home, allowing even the busiest mama to maintain their beauty routine! 

With an upcoming vacation, I opted for a Gelish manicure and pedicure at home, rather than venture out to the salon in the September heat with a baby in tow. I was impressed when I called to schedule the service that they were available the next day; sometimes it can be tricky to get an appointment in Dubai, where manicures are a necessity rather than a luxury! I asked the receptionist to confirm the costs to ensure I had the right cash, but she said that they would bring along their card machine, which was brilliant and oh-so convenient!

Later that afternoon, I received a phone call to confirm my appointment. Sure enough the following day, the two uniformed female nail technicians arrived at my house right on time. I was pleased they had found the villa without needing directions; something that most delivery drivers seem to be unable to do!

I showed the two friendly technicians the area in our lounge that I thought would be best suitable for them to set-up, and they promptly unpacked their equipment. I settled down to choose my polish colours and they began the treatments, with one tackling my sandal-abused feet, and the other my hands – it felt soooo good just to sit down and switch off for a few minutes!.

They brought a good selection of colours, but if you are used to selecting from 100’s of shades, be forewarned that they do only bring about 30 polishes, so if you are looking for something specific then make sure you let them know at the time of booking.

The precision of the technicians was great; they listened to how I wanted my nails shaped, and didn’t nip at my cuticles. Rather than using a foot spa and massage chair, it was a basin of water and my dining room chair, but saving the time to drive to the salon by having them come to me, was priceless. It also meant I didn’t need to disrupt my baby as he was comfortable in his home surroundings!

I was also impressed with how quick they were; much were faster than my regular salon (always a bonus when there are little people getting fidgety nearby!). I know they had another appointment to get to after me, so perhaps this is why, but they certainly didn’t rush the service and they did a great job.

Almost a week on and both hands and feet are still looking immaculate, despite numerous nappy changes and baby bathtimes! I also found that the Gelish colour on my toes stayed bright- often it seems to fade whenever I swim. So I’m all set to chill out poolside on holiday now.

iSpa offer full services at your home, from waxing through to hair treatments, so I look forward to trying their other services out soon. The convenience of having the treatment at home cannot be faulted; of course it’s fantastic to visit a spa and receive fully luxurious pampering, but for those occasions that you simply want to retain your fabulousness around a busy schedule, save yourself the time (and stress) and book an at home service mama!
